  • Whats the Best Core I7 Cooler?

Hi All. I'm doing the research on my next system im planing on building in the near future, and I want to know what would make a very good quality, reasonably quiet cooler. I hear a lot about The Thermalright 120 Extreme. Does it come with the fan?? Anyway yeah I think AIR is still what Im going to go with for now so yeah, give me some options people. Thanks.

Way to revieve a long forgotten thread. I ended up just getting a Q2Q setup for now. I went with the Noctua NH-U12P and its a really good. The Fan on it is fantastic and quiet Im going to buy some more fans to put in my cases because they are nearly silent. The Prolimatech one looks very nice, the symbol on the top of it looks like something off transformers. lol

TRUE 1366 RT with push pull scythe kaze's or other huge CFM fans will do you very well, easy to install except the base seems lose, i added some high temp electrical tape to the top of the base where the crossbar sits, just a little goes a long ways to making it very stable.
            I pull 39 idle 70 load around 4k GHz.
Just my 2 cents, it works well. I prefer the OCZ Vendetta II on socket 775 but they dont have one for 1366 yet i dont think. or they didnt

I think most good air coolers in push pull with good fans are very very close. I am switching to water this week, just waiting on gtx block. I think air is just not very good if you want to overclock past 4000

Re: Whats the Best Core I7 Cooler?

Im using the Noctua with load temps of around 75 at 3.78ghz and about 1.34vcore. i know kinda high, i have a front 120mm scythe kaze jyuni which moves 110cfm, a side fan which is the same sycthe, and a bottom 140mm that moves 90cfm. exhaust is a stock rear CM120mm moves between 35-50 i believe and 2 top 120mm apevias that move 55cfm a piece. I just rerouted all my cables to go behind the mobo. It's nearly 100% clear now. Temps dropped maybe 3 degrees from the cables being rerouted, anybody think i need more exhaust CFM to balance it out?? like maybe swap one of the Scythes from the front or side and put it in the top or rear? any ideas?
