Hello to all! Sorry for repeat post, as I couldnt find my first post initially:
I recently purchased the Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3 card (version 2.0), to add to my system below:
X99 Ultra Gaming Motherboard
i7-6800k
OS Drive - Toshiba NVME SSD
TWO Sata SSD's
HDD
1070 SLI
running on latest bios
So upon reading the motherboard manual carefully, it mentions the PCIE x16_1 slot would operate at x8, if slot x8_1 is populated (shared lanes). I'm thinking my thunderbolt card would work. However, with the card installed, I lose SLI. The Nvidia Control only recognizes one of the GPU's. It does however show that GPU at running at x8 mode. I was expecting the following
PCIE 16 slot 1: x8 (GTX 1070)
PCIE 16 slot 2: x8 (GTX 1070)
PCIE 8 slot 1: x8 (Thunderbolt add in card)
PCIE 8 slot 2: disabled
Is this configuration not doable with an i7-6800K?
I'd definitely like to know as I'm about to return the card. Thanks!
