    Welcome to the forum.

I use 3TB hard drives with my EP45-UD3P system with no problems. I have an ssd as my boot drive and all I had to do was to properly format and setup my 3TB drives with GPT format instead of the older MBR format.

The hard drive needs to be partitioned using GPT format when one or more partitions will use more than 2.2TB of total drive space. If you want to have a boot partition on your large hard drive, I think that you need run win 8.0/8.1 or win 10. With windows 7 or newer, you can use Disk Management to setup and format a large data hard drive using GPT format.

Check out Windows 7 cannot install to partition of the gpt format - [Solved] - Windows 7 for useful information and links. A web search using: gpt hard drive format will provide helpful tutorials for setting up your large hard drive.

Okay, I have seen lots of these newer bioses, some of this forum actually and some of the topics you have been involved in.

      What are those for?

      Thanks

You're referring to modified bios versions where one or more of the option rom's in the bios have been replaced with newer O-rom versions. With the LGA775 motherboards the most popular mods involved changing the older raid rom in the bios to a newer version that provided better raid0 performance and/or TRIM support for a raid0 ssd setup.

If you flash using the wrong bios version for your motherboard (e.g. ver 1.0 instead of ver 2.0) you can brick your motherboard and you probably won't be able to use the Gigabyte dual bios feature to restore your board.

Using an ssd for your boot drive is the best performance enhancement for old and new systems.
