G.skills Tridentz 3400 mhz (2x8GB) memory only runs @3200mhz on GA-Z170X-UD3 ?
motherboard- Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3
BIOS=F6
cpu is Intel i5 6600K with Nepton 140 xl watercooler
videocard is Zotac GTX970
drive is Intel 750 PCI 400GB add in card with windows 10 home 64 bit
memory is G.skillz Tridentz 3400mhz(2x8GB) (F4-3400C16D-16GTZ ) is on the memory compatibility list
I have the cpu running factory settings with baseclock at 100.00ghz
for some reason, the default bios had the baseclock at 102.03 and this with 33 multiplier on the memory gives 3400mhz, but it won't boot on that.
everything seems to better with cpu base clock of 100.00 ghz
the memory runs well at a 32 multiplier, but when I key in 34 multiplier it defaults to 33.33
and it will not boot, it boots and flawlessly from 2133 mhz to 3200mhz
since this setup is only a dual memory stick setup , I am questioning what to do to go to a quad setup(4x8GB), it seems like 3200mhz quad memory would be best if this GA-Z170-UD3 motherboard can only run a 32 multiplier on the memory
ideas?
