    Naw, you're not slow, you're just a half-fast overclocker.
Ouch, my remark was nasty, I think that I need to ban myself from the forum for two weeks.
Dang it!! Now I won't have 6,666 posts any more.

Steps 1 through 7 above look good.

    Have fun!

      Haha!

I'll still be half-fast when I've reached the current limit of this system!

I was just looking at other ways to optimise my system and came across another one of your threads (http://forums.tweaktown.com/storage-...d-used-os.html)

I think I may do a fresh Windows install at the end of all this so might be asking your advice for some time to come!

P.S. and who knows, maybe in a few years I'll be asking your advice on what parts to buy for a whole new system! (if you haven't banned me by then for asking too many questions!)

Sounds like you need a homework assignment, check out http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...-capacity.html where I got some excellent advice from forum members when I moved from win2kpro to win7 and my first ssd.

There are only 105 posts in the thread and there will be a closed web exam in 24 hours and none of the questions are multiple choice.

Hmm, it seems like there's a little nastiness left over from my 6,666th post, but hey, don't blame me, the devil made me do it.

The devil whispered something in my ear.....oh, he says that I should bill you based on the number of kilobytes in all of my posts multiplied by how far away you are from the left coast of America, but don't worry, there won't be any value added tax which saves you 20%.

Say what? Oh he also said that I should include charges for each image in my posts, based on the size of the image.

Probably the last post of the night...

Went through steps 1 to halfway through 5 and managed to load Windows then the system froze (whilst I was typing this message).
Moved on to step 6 and managed to load Windows again and as of typing it hasn't crashed yet

          tRD = 9
          FSB =422
          FSB OverVoltage Control = +0.2V
          (G)MCH OverVoltage Control = +0.2V

This image is from before the crash (as I can't figure out how to remove uploaded images and upload new ones) but I imagine the next screenshot I send will be similar...

              OH WONDERFUL!!!

We've gone from 12 - 22 hour stress test successes to how many seconds your system has stayed up and avoided barf mode.

              Thanks for the great laugh.

At least you're making progress and kind of moving in the right direction.

Back on 3.9GHz for the time being.

Here is the HWiNFO log to see if you can tell where it all went wrong lol:

Everything looks good in your #7 log.
Your test ran for 3 hours 18 minutes.
The test stopped at 12:25 PM on May 29.
The only thing out of the ordinary is the ssd temperatures in your logs that range from the upper 40o - low 50o(C) range. This might be normal for your ssd, but on both of my systems the ssd temperatures are usually about 25o(C).

Using the windows Event Viewer you could look for error messages that are logged starting 5 - 10 minutes before your system froze.
You will probably see one message that says that your system stopped unexpectedly at 12:25 PM.

I just noticed that you used CPU Voltage Control = 1.38125V in each of the last two posted bios settings, is this correct?

I suggest staying at 3.90GHz and perform several tweaks and tests to ensure that your system is stable with the new settings.
Start with the following changes and repeat your stress tests:
                    • enable EIST + C1E
                    • tRD = 8
                    • performance enhance = Turbo

You can test with all 3 settings changed at one time but if there are any problems, you won't know which one caused the problem.

I've never tested using performance enhance = Extreme

I've never tested my second 8GB set of OCZ Reaper memory and that's what I'm doing now.
I found that one module prevents my system from booting, so I'm testing with 6GB and HCI Memtest.
I've also lowered my 4.00GHz cpu voltage from 1.38750 to 1.38125 volts.
My test has been running for 2 hours and so far everything is good.
I have HWiNFO logging enabled (for the first time) and if there are any problems I'll look at the Event Viewer.

I first did a quick 3 loop LinX test using all available memory and there were no problems.
The GFlops scores showed a much larger variation than I usually see and it will be interesting to see if there will be any problems.

I'm going to do another test with Performance Enhance = Extreme to see if this setting is stable.
It will be interesting to see there is a noticeable improvement in everyday operation.

I just tried to run 5 loops of LinX at 3.9GHz with EIST and C1E enabled at tRD = 8.

Looked away then looked back and the computer was restarting :(

                        Here is the HWiNFO log:

That feels like a spanner in the works... What do I change now?

Disable EIST and C1E and test with tRD = 8, but.....

Based on the HWiNFO log file, your system rebooted after running for 1 minute, 22 seconds.

Post a screen-shot from WhoCrashed or BlueScreenViewer to see if there is any dump file information.
Run windows Event Viewer and see what windows reports in the time leading up to 2:14 PM on 31 May 2014.

                          The log showed:
cpu core temperatures started with 46, 47, 48 and 48°C
                          and ended with 76, 77 , 79 and 75°C
Cpu temperatures started at 29°C and ended with 69°C

With your May 30 - 31 HCI Memtest log, cpu core temperatures averaged from 58 - 62°C and cpu temperatures were slightly higher.

HWiNFO did not report any cpu thermal core throttling in both of your logs.

What was the TjMax setting in HWiNFO during these tests? 85°C? 100°C?

I think TjMax was set to 100 in HWiNFO - I didn't realise you had to change it every time!

I'm not overly familiar with Windows Event Viewer but I scrolled through the Log Summary and couldn't find anything on the 31st of May...

Here is some information about your new memory kit:

                              Kingston HyperX T1 PC2-8500 KHX8500D2T1K2/4G

Data sheet for your new memory: http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX8500D2T1K2_4G.pdf

                              From the data sheet:
                              • Timing Reference: 5-5-5-18 at +1.8V / 5-5-5-15 at +2.2V - 2.3V
                              • Each module pair has been tested to run at DDR2-1066MHz at a latency timing of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2V - 2.3V.
                              • The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency 800Mhz timing of 5-5-5-18 at 1.8V.

I've been running two of these kits (8GB total) for several years and they have been perfect.
With my 4-4-4-10 timings at 876MHz, memory voltage is set to 2.20 volts.

My current settings are in the Memset window on the left.
The programed SPD timings are in the window on the right.

I am thinking of trying to get another set also - do I need to know specifics such as serial numbers to try and get as close a match as possible?

I guess we'll put the testing on hold until the new stuff arrives. I've also read they have a lifetime warranty - I don't know if this applies for second owners but it would be neat if it did!
