  • Z87X-UD3H warm boot issue

It's the z87-ud3h board. I talked to someone on another forum and I was told this issue may relate to my ssd's. What happens is that I can cold boot no problem. When I warm boot (restart windows or hit the reset button), The raid controller oprom loses detection of my ssd's in raid 0 (2x OCZ agility 3 90gb). My only solution right now is to shut down windows or hold the power button until off and then cold boot (power button on) again. Does anyone have this issue with the z87 gigabyte motherboards? BTW, I have used the bios that came with the board (F7 unmodded),F8j unmodded and F8k modded version 1 and 2 (the f8 modded versions came from here). So, I know it's not a bios version issue. Would the dynamic application loader bios setting have anything to do with it? That seems to be the biggest major change between my ivy bridge (asus p8z77-v lk and 3770k cpu) and my current setup in bios (z87x-ud3h and xeon e3 1245 v3 cpu). I will do this eventually regardless is to have a backup to my mb raid by getting myself an adaptec 6805e hardware raid controller at the end of January. I am hoping to fix the current problem 1st so I know I have a solid backup in my motherboard just in case. Any thoughts?

(( Moderators note: I changed the topic to Z87X-UD3H as per. I don't see where GB makes a Z87-UD3H model. ))

yes it could be,think there are known issues atm with intel sata ports and sandforce controlled ssd's

any third party sata ports (asmedia) ect to test on? they shouldn't be affected

      Re: Z87X-UD3H warm boot issue

I just tried the marvell raid 0 on the motherboard and 1 ports and they work perfectly. Thanks for the tip. Does intel have a problem with samsing ssd's? I am thinking of getting rid of these and getting two 840 pro 256gb ssd's. Any thoughts?

        Samsung should work fine

its only older sandforce controlled drives, samsung use their own driver and crucial use marvell controlled ssd's

          Re: Z87X-UD3H warm boot issue

is it the same for z77 then with intel controllers and sandforce ssd's? I am guessing from your specs, it is. The reason I ask is that my brother is using a asus z77 mb but he has no other controller to use (p8z77-v lk) other than the intel. What happens with him is that he can use UEFI functions except fast boots. He's using the same video card as me so I am thinking it's the same issue. Nothing I can really do other than get him a new ssd too. I would actually say it is because I remember not being able to use the reset button for warm boots although I could restart in windows with the ssd's I am using now with my brother's mb.

I think z77 are unaffected but not sure, fast boot doesn't work on some boards

could test your Samsung ssd on his z77 board and see if its any better ect

              Re: Z87X-UD3H warm boot issue

Well, I don't have the samsung yet. Looking to get that at the end of the month. I am still using two ocz agility 3 90gb ssd in raid 0. My brother is using a corsair force 3 90 gb ssd in the z77. Mind you, I changed his video card about a week after I installed windows on his machine. So fast boots maybe out of the question unless I reinstall. I was doing fast boots on the z77 system with my ssd's. 6-7 seconds.
