I know it's same thing with other boards as well. If they don't get it right with Z87 then I guess they don't know what they are doing. Personally I think they need to hire some people that know this stuff.

                Re: ************Gigabyte Take Note************

I pretty much had the exact same issues with my GA-Z77X-UD4H motherboard which I just recently resolved. You can skim over that thread which I last posted to today... "GA-Z77X-UD4H BIOS Settings Change On Their Own"... but there was one peculiarity I had which I didn't mention there.

There is a red On/Off Power Button directly on my motherboard... large compared to those CMOS micro buttons so you can't miss it. You can see it by looking up my motherboard on New Egg, look at the photo which shows the top view of the motherboard, and the button will be in the lower right hand corner. Although the manual doesn't mention this, when the motherboard receives power that button lights up (more on this below).

I've had three power supplies connected to my motherboard so far... in this order...

                (1) Cooler Master RS-850-EMBA (850 Watts, ATX 12V V2.2 and EPS 12V V2.91) which I purchased in 2007 and used with two previous Gigabyte motherboards... never had any problems.

                (2) Corsair VX550W (550 Watts, ATX 12V 2.2 but NO EPS INFO) which I borrowed from a friend, also from 2007 and still used in his secondary system.

                (3) Corsair HX750 (750 Watts, ATX 12V 2.31 and EPS 12V V2.92) which I just received from New Egg yesterday and is in my system now.

When I apply power to the motherboard with the Cooler Master, the power button flashes rapidly. No idea if that was normal so first I disconnected all the power connections except the two on the motherboard but the light still flashed... then I tested every 5v and 12v line on every connector with a meter but they all were within spec.

When I apply power using either Corsair power supply, the power button lights steady... no flashing... and every issue I had is gone.

So where is the problem... Cooler Master vs Corsair or just a mildly faulty Cooler Master. Just remember, if it wasn't for that flashing light, I may be in the same boat as this thread. So I would highly recommend trying another power supply no matter what and see what happens. It obviously doesn't have to be a newer power supply since the Corsair VX550W worked fine, but I would still try going with a different brand just in case the brand is an issue... maybe a Corsair just in case.

I'll keep track of this thread since now I'm hooked.

                  Re: ************Gigabyte Take Note************

Sometimes there is an incompatibility with certain psu models and some motherboard models.
It's possible that if you test the Cooler Master psu with a different motherboard, the CM psu might work perfectly.
The Cooler Master psu might be faulty, even if all of its voltage rails test perfectly with a digital multi-meter.
It's also possible that one or more of the CM power wires (not complete cables) is not making a solid electrical connection.

Most mid-level or better Corsair power supplies are very good to excellent.
I'm not at all impressed with most Cooler Master power supplies, as most psu reviews from the best review sites indicate that the majority of CM psu's are mediocre at best. I like most Cooler Master products, but not their power supplies.

Several years ago there was a problem with a specific Gigabyte motherboard and one of the higher end Antec power supplies. The problem was found to be with the motherboard, but Antec made a minor change to their psu to solve the incompatibility problem.

Thanks for posting about the flashing power button, it sounds the flashing power button is a possible indicator of an electrical supply problem.

Yeah that's pretty wild about the flashing power button, never seen that before.
I'm sticking with my SeaSonic psu's. I've had zero problems from them as far as compatibility or anything else. They might cost a little more but worth it.

I've had weird problems with a few psu's, and even my Corsair HX750 that I only use now for priming my water cooling gets weird now and then.
My old Antec TP650 has been a good one.

I am glad I found this thread. I RMA'd my UD3H because it completely resetted itself into defaults about 3 times in last weeks. Just like that. It's getting extremely annoying. I am starting to lose faith in Gigabyte, mainly because it's been 7 months since latest stable BIOS was released, and also because this is 3rd RMA of this particular model already. First was the board completely frying (literally!) a CPU, then the one I got as a replacement stopped seeing soundcard, and now this. Come on...

Please let us know then. I am very curious, and also hope it's just a specific BIOS version bug, which could be fixed.

wazza300, what I'm about to say may come off as being critical, but it's not meant to be that way... just trying to help.

You continue to flash your BIOS over and over again, leaving the computer off for days at a time in between, yet it never does any good. I posted what I did so you, and anyone else with this problem, might consider the fact there is nothing wrong with the BIOS and the issue lies elsewhere... even with a component you would never suspect. My post wasn't meant to single out any brand or model of power supply... only to say replacing mine is what fixed the same problem you have... and I never thought it would work. Don't forget, my Cooler Master worked perfectly... and we did test it again, on the computer where the Corsair VX550 came from, and it worked there as well. Look at it as a compatibility problem... and if trying another power supply on your system fixes the problem, now we have two users with the same problem and the same fix... think how many others this could help out.

Borrow one or even buy one and return it later if it doesn't resolve the problem... you have nothing to lose.

its not that it remembers the overclock and bios settings but it doesn't display them or save anything in the bios it just reverts to showing auto but im still clocked to 4.8ghz,my other z68 remembers and displays the correct bios settings no matter how long I leave it switched off for,

ill post some bios screenshots to show you what I mean when I get time
