    Re: ************Gigabyte Take Note************

Unfortunately Gigabyte have no interest in fixing bios issues, also i question the competence of their programmers. i have been in contact with them directly regarding an OEM project they're producing and to be frank i think they're very inexperienced.

Besides which they clearly don't test things... maybe the reason the change logs are pathetic.

our next OEM project Gigabyte wont get a look in.

Already had better communications with their competitors.

I can confirm that asus z77 doesn't do this either,
My ASR board uses the AMI BIOS/UEFI too. If AMI has different versions for the same CPU/chipset boards is another question, and discovering which version these boards use may not be simple. If that even matters.

Frankly, I can't think of any board I've used, including a socket 775 Gigabyte board (still in use, works fine), that would lose its BIOS settings, unless the board's battery was bad. IF BIOS settings are apparently randomly changing, that could be a potentially dangerous situation, if it affected things like Vcore, or DRAM voltages, etc. That does not seem to be the case, but IMO this is a pretty serious issue.

          Re: ************Gigabyte Take Note************

no it doesn't change the settings or lose them

it loses the ability to display the settings in the bios for example it shows auto for everything when in fact its clocked to 4.6ghz,the speed/voltages are spot on in windows for 4.6ghz its just the bios showing auto for everything when its not

plus if I set the 4.6ghz settings again it won't save them,it still shows auto

until I reflash the bios and then re enter the settings, then it will save and display them instead of auto

right now I switch my pc's over now and again and it seems to do this if its left powered off for a day or two,it could be bios battery but it is a brand new board and is fine if left powered on

It sounds like the bios does not loose the saved settings, rather it can't properly display them.
If you lowered the cpu multiplier from 46 to 44, and saved the changed setting, what happens to the cpu speed when you reboot?
Will the cpu speed now be 4.4GHz even though the bios probably still won't report the correct settings?

Just in case they aren't listening, send a PM to stewart.haston (GIGABYTE Technology Co. Ltd.), provide a link to this thread, and ask him what Gigabyte is doing to fix these problems.
Technically he is the Gigabyte forum moderator, but hasn't posted in the forum.

Each of the 19 owners with bios problems should post a visitor message on his forum profile page asking when their bioses will be fixed.

I can't believe some of the beta's they have released for the UD5H. The latest one still loses settings so I went back to the last release bios.

I've had what I assume is a bios problem where I start up to no video from my gpu's at all. I never have figured out what causes it, but it always takes clearing CMOS to get it working again.
I guess it could be defaulting to on board video but I haven't checked that specifically.
I don't -think- I've had this problem since I went back to last stable release bios. IDK, hard to keep up.

IDK. As to my UP4 TH, I've had it boxed up for a while but I don't remember it giving me any major problems. I wasn't using the current beta but the one before it.
When I upgrade to Haswell the UP4 will likely go in my wife's machine with the i7 out of my backup rig. That should hold her over for years to come and will be a nice drop in replacement for the P67-UD3-B3 currently installed.

                            Re: ************Gigabyte Take Note************

My problem was the complete opposite to wazza300's post, but strangely related because it also involved re-flashing of the BIOS.

                            My motherboard is the Z77-D3H, BIOS F19g. CPU - I5 2550k, 16Gb Corsair XMS3.

I haven't switched my main PC on in about 3 months, been using my laptop for that time, then started using my PC literally last week. The problem started when I noticed in Windows 7 that my CPU was running stock, along with stock auto voltages, and onboard sound was suddenly activated. So I rebooted into the BIOS and noticed that all my old settings were still active, multiplier set to 45, small tweak to voltage +0.050v, onboard sound off, etc... yet any change to any of the BIOS settings results in no effect in windows, yet the settings remain.
So, I tried to re-flash the BIOS with the same FAT32-formatted USB keystick containing all my BIOSes for this board, yet I was unable to flash inside the BIOS. The flash section of the BIOS just wouldn't let me do anything. So, I booted back into Windows 7 and ran the @bios util and force-flashed a F19h BIOS with both clear setting entries ticked. Rebooted back into the BIOS and everything worked fine, except the F19h BIOS is a pos and all my fans were ramped up to full speed despite any fan setting. Anyway, I was able to flash back to the older F19g BIOS using the qflash option, and everything is back to normal.

One weird thing that did happen was removing the battery and resetting to default values did nothing, all my settings remained. Damn weird.

I still hate the board. USB isn't working properly on this board. I can switch on cold and ALL the USB ports are not there, the same happens if I switch on from a shutdown using the "any key" to switch on, and no USB ports at all. The only fix to this is to switch off at the wall, unplug the power cable, pop it back in and switch on and prey they are working.

I think I will stick to Asus in the future.

it loses the ability to display the settings in the bios for example it shows auto for everything when in fact its clocked to 4.6ghz,the speed/voltages are spot on in windows for 4.6ghz its just the bios showing auto for everything when its not

plus if I set the 4.6ghz settings again it won't save them,it still shows auto

until I reflash the bios and then re enter the settings, then it will save and display them instead of auto

right now I switch my pc's over now and again and it seems to do this if its left powered off for a day or two,it could be bios battery but it is a brand new board and is fine if left powered on
Just noticed this post. My ASUS X58 board from day 1 would loose its BIOS settings if the PS was turned off or unplugged. Got a new battery, problem gone. Then we all have boards that are years old with original battery's. Bad battery luck lotto.

Not the same as your issue, but electronics weirdness can do all sorts of things.
