Re: Gigabyte z77x up4 th & z77x up5 th Overclock/Settings Guide

heres where I was,

ibt stable yet soon as I played a game for 20-30minutes it would crash to desktop and in event viewer there would be 4 or 5 whea/processor event 19 parity warnings so I kept on bumpin up the vcore

temps now at 4.8ghz are the same as I was before delidding at 4.6ghz so a free 200mhz temps are great considering the voltage used, still under 1.4v which is my safe limit, temps are acceptable at 81 max on one core

How much offset you using wazza?
I'm running 4.5 daily but thinking of upping a little to see what happens in 3DMark.
don't remember for sure but I think your vcore is lower than what I needed for 4.8.

BTW if you have a Steam account, 3DMark is only about $17 for Extreme version and you can run individual tests instead of all at once.
You do not have to open up Steam to access it, contrary to many posting on the net.

Re: Gigabyte z77x up4 th & z77x up5 th Overclock/Settings Guide

offset for 4.5ghz is +0.015 and medium llc

offset for 4.8ghz is turbo llc and +0.1550v

EDIT: 4.8ghz isn't finalised yet, still tweaking it,ill post up settings once its fully stable,do you get the same boon? fully stable in cpu stressing yet when gaming it falls over till you bump up cpu v a lot more, dont have this on z68/sb

pretty sure its down to the pci-e bus

I've never run 4.8 long term, only for benching. I haven't done any gaming since I delidded, been busy on my never ending Case Labs project.

Your 4.5 settings are exactly what I'm using for both my 3770K's for a long time now.

I think I might drop to 4.6ghz for 24/7 use,i don't see any gains apart from in benchmarks at 4.8ghz,plus I don't like putting so much voltage through the chip

Go on you know you want to

What is the intel max vin the specsheets for that chip?

2500k is 1.52v..course it gets awfull hot if you load it at that v.

I wonder if many are availing of intel's new insurance policy $20 extra n they dont care how much voltage you run thru the cpu,if you burn it out theyll replace it.
Id try leaving base clock at 100 for the games.

I must go do a "burn" at 4.8 exact n see what temps are like back in a bit

idk what max safe is,but I like to stay below 1.4v and below 80c if I can

you lose any warranty soon as you delid anyway so that's out the window

Yeh well it bluescreened 124 on 3rd pass at maximum.volts were only going up to 1.46..usually peaks at 1.47- 1.48 Temps were hitting 91C ..I never did like intel burn much ()

Maybe ill try llc 3 or 2nd stage of 4 if you like .. course then there would be more volts.

maybe some non zalmann tim .. nah I couldnt be bothered.

I was hoping to get a sandy v ivy delidded comparisson..but Id probly need the same volts.. no worries.

don't kill your cpu!!

I only use ibt cos I know it gets the cpu hotter than anything else, theres no way on earth id be able to run 4.8ghz without a delid and liquid pro,4.6ghz was my max

BTW you oughta grab a tube of it,i knocked 10-12c off my 2600k aswell

whats the cpu's vid(default voltage when set to normal in the bios?) each cpu will be different hence the higher/lower load voltages, you just need to use a lower llc and lower offset if you can get it stable

I think my vid is 1.115v

the sandybridge cpu's do tend to need more voltage than ivybridge, aslong as temps are ok and you dont use above 1.4v then youll be fine, just try and work at it voltage wise to get it as low/stable as possible

i have a 2600k cpu that needs 1.35-1.36v for 4.5ghz

remember you can undervolt the cpu in dvid with a minus -0.0amount

but in takingover wazzas thread ..my personal experience for 2500k above 4.6-5.0Ghz..is you need to allow for peak voltages about the same as the speed .
4,6 about 1.42, 4.8 about 1.48 , 4.9 about 1.49-1.52. 5.0, if you gotta have it..peaks up to 1.55v n so on.

Hey tho got a not too bad 4.8 ibt.
This is fans running full speed from the start,I also had cpu 1 turned down with its rheostat to like 80% of max before.
I mean ibt you will never run the cpu that hot normallyright?..still you gotta go for the plum.
Your 2600k Waz..on a guesstimate, with the liquid pro do you think there would be a few degrees temp saving in normal use..since I have a "copper bottom"?
