My system is randomly freezing and shutting down. I have tried 2x Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 8GB ram sets (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B) and G.Skill Ripjaw F3-17000CL9D-9GBXM. I am not overclocking and I am using the stock CPU fan.

    eVGA GTX 260 gpu
    Antec 550watt PSU
    Intel 80GB SSD (310 series)

Everything but mobo/cpu/ram was pulled from my working Q6600 build. I have put the Q6600 parts back in and no issues.

System will freeze in the BIOS, W7, linux, anywhere.

Temperatures are all within range and I have seen no errors in any event logs.

    Thanks for your help

Re: GZ-Z77X-UD5H Random freezing and shutdowns.

IDK but for some reason those two kits of ram don't run together @1600Mhz (in my exp). For others maybe. Have you just tried to run them at 1333Mhz with XMP disabled to see if you get stability? You won't see any real word difference @1333Mhz except benchmarking. That's what I had to do to get my X68 stable running 16Gb of that ram.

Let us know how it goes...

Re: GZ-Z77X-UD5H Random freezing and shutdowns.

I am not running the 2 kits together. just one or the other. I started with the gskills and replaced those with the corsair set for testing purposes. I am running the corsair at 1333mhz right now.

            Thanks again for any help!

Yes I am able to run Prime95 for hours on end. It is totally random when this box freezes...I'll change some settings and think it's running great for hours -- then leave it on overnight or while i'm at work and it's turned off when I get home. Then I experience random issues for a few boots and then it starts working fine for a bit.

I have been watching some video the past hour or so and I am also noticing that every once in awhile the audio is freezing for a 1/2 second or so. Using the on board audio.

Sounds like you're getting latency spikes on the audio.

How old is your Antec power supply?
What is the psu model name?
Do you have another psu that you can test with?

Antec Neo HE550. It is 4 1/2 years old. I have ordered CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power ... It will be here tomorrow. I did take the PSU out of this system and put it into the older Q6600 setup and it worked fine. I know this is not a proper test -- so we shall see when the new PSU arrives tomorrow if that is the issue. I also have a CM Hyper 212 Evo cooler coming in also.

                        Thanks again from the help

Was it like this from the beginning or did it develop after a while?
I see you are using F8a BIOS, have you tried using F6(or one of it's beta's)?

Update to the latest audio drivers for your motherboard. Plus try to disable the deeper C-States (C3/C6/C7) and see if this works. As you describe it the freezes appear on light load or idle. I had the same problem with my new SSD in a system that was working with C-States enabled for over 2 years.
