    BUT:

I modded this bios with another intel otion rom (Intel-RSTe_RAID-ROM_v11.6.0.1702). now it works. Make sure to use (in Windows) Intel Driver 11.5.x and above!

I tried two other file hoster. Should work now.

MD5 Checksum of BIOS: AC64C434 (created by QuickSFV)

      BIOS contains:
      Intel Raid ROM v11.6.0.1702 (modded)
      Intel AHCI ROM v1.20E (untouched)
      Gigabyte/JMicron ROM v.1.06.59 (untouched)

Re: GA-P35-DS4 not handing 3TB Drives

        @robbirobert

Thanks, a quick check shows that the OWN1 checksums look good.

You've given me an incentive to finally put my P35-DS4 (rev:2.0) back together and do some further testing.
My P35-DS4 uses a single Samsung 840 Pro boot drive and the system might have been running with raid enabled but with no raid arrays.

My EP45-UD3P is running with a raid 0 boot drive array.
To get my 3TB Toshiba non-raid backup drives fully recognized, I installed the Intel Desktop Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller DEV_2822, iaStor.sys Storage Controller driver, v11.2.0.1006

The EP45-UD3P mod bios currently uses the 8.9.1.1002 raid Orom with Intel RST 11.2.0.1006 installed, but TRIM commands can't be passed to the raid 0 array.

Re: GA-P35-DS4 not handing 3TB Drives

My system / intention was to boot my samsung 830 from JMB SATA AHCI, and create a Large/Big/Span/Combine RAID on Intel ICH9R (2x1,5TB+2x2TB+2x3TB = 13TB).
Unfortunately the ICH9R does not allow/support this. Only Raid 0 (Striping Mode), Raid 1 and Raid 5 are possible. Too bad, so i can`t create a 13TB Disk.

          Nevertheless.

I guess your problem is different. You want to create a RAID0 with TRIM? If you don`t use a modded Option Rom this will not work.
I`m going to mod another bios (for P35-DS4) for you with modded Intel Option Rom.

I will edit this post later

          EDIT:

          BIOS contains:

Re: GA-P35-DS4 not handing 3TB Drives

Thank you, I know just enough about bios modding to be dangerous.

I'm going to follow Fernando's recommendation [Performance of the Intel RST/RSTe AHCI/RAID Drivers]and use the 11.2.0.1006 raid Orom because his tests show that most older systems have the best performance with this version. Originally I used an EP45-UD3P mod bios that used the (long since discontinued and removed by Intel) 11.5 raid Orom and later found out about its infamous memory leak. It wasn't worth living with the memory leak just to have TRIM commands working nicely with my raid 0 array.

The only drawback I found with raid mode enabled is that I can no longer "safely remove" my backup hard drives while windows is running.

There's only so much that a raid 0 setup can do with sata3 ssd's and older sata2 hardware, but it's still worthwhile doing if you run demanding encoding or image editing applications.

I can't wait to see the performance enhancements with the FILLFAKx.bin enhancements.

I always boot with the boot logo disabled so the all white option to provide needed space in the bios is fine by me.

When I was modding my EP45-UD3P bios I got all tripped up with the incorrect raid component CRC value when I tried to change the raid component's name.

Life is certainly a whole lot easier when you know what you're doing.

Re: GA-P35-DS4 not handing 3TB Drives

Do i need a LAN ROM at all? I don`t kneed PXE.
I don't know if deleting the rtegrom.lom component would cause any problems.
What would happen if you accidentally enabled the LAN options when you load optimized bios defaults?
Would your system reboot? I don't even want to try to guess.

You're welcome, glad that I could help out.

Re: GA-P35-DS4 not handing 3TB Drives

Is there a reason why you didn't use the 8086-2822_v11201527_mod-for-TRIM-in-RAID0 option rom?

A binary file comparison using the no-Trim-support version and the Trim-in-raid0 version shows that there are only two pairs of bytes that are different.

The uncompressed size is 121,856 bytes.

I hope to have my P35-DS4 reassembled in 10 days or less.

Well, as my ssd is placed on gigabyte/jmicron sata (poor performance at all) I just do not need TRIM on my Intel RAID. My RAID consist of classical magnetical HDDs...

Nevertheless, these are BIOS files modded by me:

Thanks, I'll test out the mod-trim bios version with a Samsung 830 raid 0 setup next week after I reassemble my P35-DS4 Q9650 system.

This thread is old but is still usefull !

                          Thanks to it : I currently have a P35 DS4 rev1.1 running with a RAID5 array of 3x3TB hard drives, and a Xeon X5470 (with a lga771 to 775 sticker).
The boot drive is a 128GB SSD (samsung 830)
I'm not using the JMicron SATA

I used the BIOS from this post : Forum - BIOS Modding Guides and Problems ยป [Request] Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 (links in the previous post are dead)
And I added Xeon microcodes (binary cut&past from a F14 BIOS modded with Xeon microcodes)

Here is the BIOS I'm currently using
                          djige.free.fr/bios/P5DS4.15c.1120.10728.120E.209_xeon.zip

Thank you all and special thanks to rabbirobert
