  • GA-H55M-UD2H bios mod

    hello all,
French Gigabyte support provided me the bios version of my F12C motherboard H55M-UD2H to solve a problem of "SMART ERROR" in the detection of a disk SSD OCZ. With this new bios, I have no error but the sytem is long to boot (env 40s-45s) after the message "booting operating system ..." before starting Windows 7.

Do you think that the customization of the bios could improve the startup?
Can anyone tell me how the modding bios with intel module rst / realtek lan / etc ... more recent? or if a charitable soul has time to help me?

I attached the link to the famous file F12C BIOS version.
    Sorry for my english.
    thanking you,
    Sincerely,
    Arch4

            Re: GA-H55M-UD2H bios mod

The tech support of Gigabyte has replied that it takes long time to boot because the new function called "optical drive self-determination" has been added into the F12 BIOS in order to improve the compatibility of the ODD.

              Re: GA-H55M-UD2H bios mod

I will use this thread to ask my stupid questions instead.
So I started looking into modding possibilities of the ancient H55M-UD2H BIOS, but apparently I can't seem to find the correct tool for that.
I tried CBROM, but it doesn't list any ROMs for the BIOS. It does load it, though, but that's it.
Then I tried modbin, but that seems to be broken (perhaps it doesn't work under Windows 7).

So please tell me what shall I download in order to be able to add/delete ROMs for a BIOS for this particular board.

Here is a link with the BIOS file.

                  Here on the forums?

It must be possible somehow, because Andy's tool can extract everything. Why he didn't write his program to work like MMTool I can't understand.

                    Octopuss,
I'll take a look at it tomorrow when I have more time.
I am in NO way affiliated with Gigabyte.

                        Re: GA-H55M-UD2H bios mod

I did a little bit more testing, and it seems H55 BIOSes are somehow special. I tried downloading one for slightly different board, and CBROM didn't list any components either. However, P45 and P55 BIOSes worked like a charm. That goes for modbin too, btw.
Either way, I am stuck :D

                          Even P55 shouldn't be problem.

                          P55:
                          BIOS...2MB
                          BIOS chip ...2 x 16 Mbit flash

                          H55:
                          BIOS...8MB (?!)
                          BIOS chip ...2 x 64 Mbit flash

I think, size of BIOS is problematic.
