Re: Overclocking The EP43-DS3
What voltage is your memory kit rated to, should mention on the sticker or you can check with CPU-z in the SPD Tab (Post a pic if you are unsure)?
Try this for 3.8Ghz, AFTER you do the following.
Please go into your BIOS and load Optimized Defaults, then save/apply F10 and reboot BACK TO THE BIOS. Once in the BIOS again set your SATA/Disk settings back to what you need, this is VERY important if you are using RAID.
Then you can move onto any other settings you need to adjust, and or the below adjustments. You are using Fail Safe now, which is probably part of why you were having issues before.
MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)
Robust Graphics Booster ...............: Turbo or Fast
CPU Clock Ratio ..........................: 8x
Fine CPU Clock Ratio.....................: x.05
CPU Frequency ...........................: 3.80Ghz (450x8.5)
Clock Chip Control
Standard Clock Control
CPU Host Clock Control..................: [Enabled]
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ............: 450
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) .........:101-103 (This helps the lower end chipset boards when overclocking, it will be fine to use, start with 101 if you are worried)
C.I.A.2 .................................:[Disabled]
Advanced Clock Control [Press Enter]
CPU Clock Drive...........................: 800MV Optimized Defaults will set this
PCI Express Clock Drive.................: 900MV Optimized Defaults will set this
CPU Clock Skew (ps)....................: 0ps
MCH Clock Skew (ps)...................: 0ps
DRAM Performance Control
Performance Enhance...................: Turbo << StandardLast edited by Lsdmeasap; 11-02-2010, 01:03 AM.

Re: Overclocking The EP43-DS3
Thanks for getting backto me.
Im not using RAID. I do have a secondary hard drive but just for extra data. I run windows off my 1T HDD.
I cant set the over clock over 3.50 so i will try and do those settings that you just listed aftert loading load Optimized Defaults.
Sorry im very new to overclocking and still learning.
Oh the RAM is rated between 2.10V - 2.30V but usaly if i set at 2.10V i get a double boot just like if i try and go over 3.50GHz.
i will let you know how i get on.
Many thanks
Paul

Re: Overclocking The EP43-DS3
No didnt work :(
I just get a double boot and it then starts in std settings... Even if i set the volts higher.
Am i better off buying a new mobo?
Or can this mobo reach the speeds im looking for?
Thanks

Re: Overclocking The EP43-DS3
Please post back the exact full settings you tried that failed, maybe then we can advise back.
In general though, as mentioned above, the P43 chipset is not a very strong overclocker and has it's limitations, so yes if you have the spare cash and really want to overclock easier then a new P45 would be your best bet.

Re: Overclocking The EP43-DS3
Well my settings given were just a suggested range, your CPU may have needed more volts or something else may need to be looser, that's why I asked you to post back the exact settings you tried - so I could advise again.
Good luck with the Asus P45, the BIOS is different so it will take you some getting used to.

Re: Overclocking The EP43-DS3
Hi guys
I followed your advice and I tried to overclock my CPU.
Q9550 + Gigabyte EP43.
After entering the parameters whitin the bios,do a control test with CPUZ.
The test gives me the same result as before overclocking.
Why?
Thanks.
