  • 2 X 4GB or 4 X 2gb?

I just built a P55A -UD7 system. I have G.Skill Ripjaws PC#-16000 RAM installed. I figured that would be enough but I keep a whole lot of windows open and my physical memory utilization is close to 100%. And things seem to slow down when everything is loaded. Which I was not really expecting. I ran the same stuff in XP with 2GB.

My question - is it better (in terms of performance and some overclocking) to add another pair of 2GB sticks, or swap the current 2 out and use a pair of 4GB sticks. Same RAM speeds. I am rebuilding my wife's machine so we can both be on Win 7 64 bit and I can use the 4GB I have in her machine.

I think adding more 2GB sticks would be fine, and cost you much less in the end
