  • Phenom II x6 1090T bios for GA-MA790XT-UD4P

I have the current beta bios on the Gigabyte.us website. It is version F8C. This doesn't show support for this x6 CPU yet. Is there a more recent Bios I could use or will the 1090T x6 work with the F8C bios for now?

    Thanks.

Re: Phenom II x6 1090T bios for GA-MA790XT-UD4P

Fascinating. The compatibility table lists both of the 95W yet-to-be-released X6 models, but neither of the already released 125W X6 CPU. Almost like there could be a reason for that.

[Edit] This chap has GA-MA790XT-UD4P listed in his sig. With 1055T, which must be a 125W.

So is this sorted out or not?

This chap makes the claim with 1090T, and user Aberu in Newegg 1090T page.

I'd say "sorted", as far as one can trust the INET. :)

          Phenom II x6 1090T bios for GA-MA790X-UD4P

          Greetings,

Yesterday, I downloaded and installed the F10A version of BIOS for my GA-MA790X-UD4P motherboard in advance of installing a Phenom X6 (on order from NewEgg). Used FlashQ and seemed to install with no issues. Afterwards, the on-board network adapter could not find the network within a Windows 7 x64 installation. Bottom line, seems the BIOS update dorked the network adapter. Any advice?

          Thanks,
          John

            The F8C only supports the 95Watt Phenom2 X6 cpus. Not the 125Watt.

You may want to go into bios and check your onboard lan functions.
            Code:
            Integrated Peripherals
            OnChip IDE Channel [Enabled]
            OnChip SATA Controller [Enabled]
            OnChip SATA Type [Native IDE]

            OnChip USB Controller [Enabled]
            USB EHCI Controller [Enabled]
            USB Keyboard Support [Enabled]
            USB Mouse Support [Disabled]
            Legacy USB storage detect [Enabled]
            Onboard Serial Port 1 [3F8/IRQ4]
            Onboard LAN Function
Enables or disables the onboard LAN function. (Default: Enabled)
If you wish to install a 3rd party add-in network card instead of using the onboard LAN, set this item
            to Disabled.
            Onboard LAN Boot ROM
Allows you to decide whether to activate the boot ROM integrated with the onboard LAN chip.
            (Default: Disabled)
            Code:
            SMART LAN
            Start detecting at Port.....
            Part1-2 Status = Open / Length = 0m
            Part3-6 Status = Open / Length = 0m
            Part4-5 Status = Open / Length = 0m
            Part7-8 Status = Open / Length = 0m
This motherboard incorporates cable diagnostic feature designed to detect the status of the attached LAN
cable. This feature will detect cabling issue and report the approximate distance to the fault or short.
Refer to the following information for diagnosing your LAN cable:
When No LAN Cable Is Attached...
If no LAN cable is attached to the motherboard, the Status fields of all four pairs of wires will show
Open and the Length fields show 0m, as shown in the figure above.

Re: Phenom II x6 1090T bios for GA-MA790XT-UD4P

              Continued from above
When LAN Cable Is Functioning Normally...
If no cable problem is detected on the LAN cable connected to a Gigabit hub or a 10/100 Mbps hub,
              the following message will appear:
              Link Detected Displays transmission speed
Cable Length Displays the approximate length of the attached LAN cable.
              Code:
              Start detecting at Port.....
              Link Detected --> 100Mbps
              Cable Length= 30m
Note: The Gigabit hub will only operate at a speed of 10/100Mbps in MS-DOS mode; it will operate
at a normal speed of 10/100/1000 Mbps in Windows mode or when the LAN Boot ROM is
              activated.
              When a Cable Problem Occurs...
If a cable problem occurs on a specified pair of wires, the Status field will show Short and
thenlength shown will be the approximate distance to the fault or short.
              Example: Part1-2 Status = Short / Length = 2m
Explanation: A fault or short might occur at about 2m on Part 1-2.
Note: Part 4-5 and Part 7-8 are not used in a 10/100 Mbps environment, so their Status fields will
show Open, and the length shown is the approximate length of the attached LAN cable
If this tests is good uninstall and reinstall Realteck Gigabit Lan drivers.

Thanks for the detailed suggestion. I had previously checked all BIOS settings and it made no difference. Re-installing drivers made no difference either. As a work-around, I installed a PCI network adapter and disabled the on-board network adapter until I have a better solution. I am a VERY experienced PC guru and this is the first time I have seen this sort of thing happen as a result (apparently) of a BIOS upgrade. The on-board adapter worked under the previous BIOS (F9) and did not after updating to F10A. Should I find a better solution, I will post. HOOAH!!!

Looks like F8C works and is supported now. I verified with my install yesterday. I talked to Gigabyte and they told me they were waiting for AMD to validate it. Looks like it is validated.

Received my Phenom II X6 1090T yesterday and installed in the same GA-MA-790X-UD4P motherboard that seemed to go wonky after updating to the F10A BIOS. Removed the discrete NIC, re-enabled the on-board NIC, and rebooted into Win7. Re-installed the NIC drivers and everything worked....weird.

No failures and no re-activation (forgot to mention that occured after the original incident earlier this week). Overnight burn-in produced no surprises. Performance at stock speeds is very good.

Very happy with system at this point. Still perplexed by the earlier NIC issue (and subsequent manual re-activation).

                        Mission complete! HOOAH!!!

Just remember that there are two different boards here with different Bios. Mine is the GA-MA790XT-UD4P. The board you mention doesn't have the "T" in it. Make sure you are using the correct Bios.

Yep, you are right. Two different (but very similar) boards. Jumped in this thread because of commonality of issues associated with X6 CPUs and BIOS updates to accomodate.

"T" in the model name means DDR3 for anyone who wasn't sure.
