  • Slow system Performance

    Hi,
I bought a new pc (assembled one) .its hardwares are given below:
    Motherboard: Gigabyte X58 ud5
    Processor : Intel Core i7
    RAM : Transcend 24B DDR3 x2
Hard Disk : Hitachi 500gb Sata + 1 terabyte segate
    Cabinet : Cooler Master CM
    Monitor : Samsung SyncMaster 20'
DVD Writer : Moserbaer 22x DVD
    Mouse&KB : Logitech
    WebCam : iBall 8mp
    SMPS : Cooler Master 650w
    UPS : APC 1000v VA
My problem is as follows : Normally when i start the computer its taking minimum 4-5 minutes (even to right click on the desktop) once the desktop is started. I have a quad core system in my office its performance is very fast compared to my personal pc(which is having most of the swa including maya,3dsmax and lot of games). And in my personal pc i hav certain games only installed + utorrent , antivirus and spyware (while system start utorrent ,antivirus and spyware are in the start up,before installing these sws also the problems were same).I am a 3d artist , i am afraid to install Maya or max to my pc feeling that it may further slow down the pc. And i used get dr watsan errors (for just opening explorers)randomly and system hang at certain times. Actually i thought that corei7 is the fastest in performance ,but now i am disappointed with my pc. Is this the problem with my motherboard or RAM (i am not using corsair 3x1) or processor OR do i need to change any configuration settings to make my computer work fine?? Any help will be really appreciated.

Note: i have 1.5 terabyte internal hardisk

    Thanks in advance
    shan

    Re: Slow system Performance

Can you link me to your memory, and then give me your full current settings, link in my signature for you to give me your settings.

When you say external disk, do you mean for storage or are you booting your OS from it?

        Re: Slow system Performance

I mean a link to the page you purchased the memory, or give me the model #.

To give me your settings you will have to manually fill them into this template >>
Gigabyte BIOS Templates (To Give Us Your Settings)

Print that out and then go in the BIOS and write down your settings and then post them back here.

                  Re: Slow system Performance

If your time is changing, or loosing time, you need a new CR2032 CMOS battery. They are cheap, about $0.50 US Dollar, you should buy one soon before it dies on you and you have to re-enter your settings everyday.

Try these settings for the above posted speeds

                  Advanced CPU Features:
                  CPU Clock Ratio ................................ [20x]

                      Re: Slow system Performance

Thanks, I will edit above for memory.

You have UD3R motherboard, not UD5? You know that right? Just checking, you said UD5 in your first post.

If it is UD3R, then yes that is very old F4 BIOS, here is latest F11

If you are unsure how to flash please read this on how to use Qflash, DO NOT USE @BIOS

Then load optimized as the guide suggests, save/apply F10 reboot BACK to the BIOS and set your SATA Settings then the above again.

I have did as you told.I am checking for the performance.get back to you after 2 days. I have few questions : Whats the difference between updating with @bios and Qflash ?? whats the risk if some1 updated using @bios ??

                            Re: Slow system Performance

No problem, you can take all the time you want I will still be here to help once you get back around!

                            DO NOT USE @BIOS

                            Use Qflash

                            That is the difference

@BIOS can brick your board, making you have to send it in for a new one. So it is not safe to use, please use Qflash or DOS
