  • Can't Get BIOS to reconize Serial ATA Drive

I'm currently using the GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard and when trying to install a SATA II hard drive the BIOS won't reconize it. What is the proper settings for this? Would someone please help me with this? Thank you in advance. I can only get it to recognize my drive as a IDE not SATA II?

you mean its set to ide in bios?? theres

    ide
    mhci
mhci/raid options i think.but ide is sata also. It depends on whether you have sata or ide drive connected

But I do have a SATA II. That is mainly what I'm saying that it seems the only way a Sata drive will be recognized would be to install 2 sata drives as though you're a RAID configuration. You shouldn't have to do that should you? Thank you warren300 for helping.
So I'm asking if I have a SATA drive what all should be enabled in the BIOS in order to have it properly configured?

yeah it will run sata2 speeds in ide,it wont let you select sata2 because theres no option for it,only raid which you dont want or ahci which enables different hard drive features...its just the way gigabyte label it.does it see your drive when set to ide in bios??? ifso its normal it will run at sata2 speeds mine are set up that way too

Re: Can't Get BIOS to reconize Serial ATA Drive

Ya, it is just how Gigabyte differentiates between Normal SATA Mode (IDE) and RAID/AHCI, it only says IDE it will function as SATAII

Mine is terrible right now, using an old Seagate (Faulty and dying) 500GB drive only!

Ooohh i thought you was running the RAID setup as you'd showed me in a previous picture. Was impressive stats, esp compared to my SSD drive lol
