  • Gigabyte X58 UD7 , Core I7 930 D0 and Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz

First of all Hello to everyone.
I have recently set up my new rig which consists of a Gigabyte Motherboard which gives me headaches.
    Here are my specs:
    -Gigabyte X58 UD7
    -Core I7 930 D0
    -Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz
    -SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro
    -Prolimatech Megashadow with 2x YateLoons @ 2200RPM
    -Corsair 800D Case
    -Corsair X128SSD
    -Velociraptor 300GB
    -2x WD Black 1tb Sata3 hdd's
    -2x WD Green 1,5tb Sata2 hdd's.
-GPU: 8800GT xfx (**as im waiting for my GTX 480 to arrive next week hopefully**)

I'm not new to computers at all, neither new to overclocking.
I'm seeking some help as to find the magic setting on this motherboard to get past the 180Qpi, past 4GHz on CPU and past 1900Mhz on the memory.

I will now sum up my bios settings (sticking to the point) :

    Current Bios Version: F6

    Cpu Multiplier x22
Turbo Boost= Enabled by doing +1 Multiplier
    C3/C6=Disabled

    QPI Block= 180

    Memory Multiplier= x10
    Mem Settings= Expert
    Mem Timings= 8-8-8-24-auto

CPU V.core= Auto (otherwise at 1.35 blue screen, scrashes u name it!)
    Cpu pll =1.88
    Qpi =1.39
    Dram=1.64

So im wondering anyone out there, could tell me where i go wrong and what voltages should i increase more to do what this motherboard states ... 2000+Mhz memory and 4GHz+ CPU ?

i will appreciate any help as im bit out of patience here

you need to try with a 21x cpu multi not 22x it will use less voltage try 1.260000 cpu v and 200x21cpu, 1.38000 qpi voltage

yo.. what clips have you used to hold the fans onto the megashadow?

I used the standard clips myself, however my megashadow is orientated differently

i had to get special clips sent to me by prolimatech so that they were sideward mounts inside on up-and-under, works a treat.

can't understand how this rig runs with NB / MB temps so low. in the image, MB=35 and NB=44.

on my system with a similar board, i get get MB and NB temps around the 48 mark, i've added a fan to push down to ~42.

My temps are lower than that in a HAF 922 case though the corsair case looks rather nice :)

Temps are a funny thing.... If i could get my voltages as low as yours Warren id have even lower temps but seems the 930's like more voltages sadly. Needed to go from 1.26 to 1.31 just to go from 4.0ghz to 4.2ghz

My temps were similar to yours last week, before i changed my fan config, though as you say theres nothing wrong with those temps.

i only stick with 3.8ghz so i can use all of my ram speed,i dontlike this thermolab baram cooler either i had an akasa nero 967 before and that was better but it had intel pushpins and was a nightmare to fit,but theres a newer akasa nero s,which has a backplate so i might get that

Hi guys first of all thanks warren for some guidance.
I will be trying some new settings in a while.

To the other forum member (damn i cant see his user name now), for the front fan i had to use different clips that came with a noctua cooler as it would block the first memory stick ;)

Ill post a bit later with some results hopefully !

                            that was me :)....

i've had a fun old time with my UD7... had to sent it back twice before they replaced it :).... not sure if you can see the new clips from prolimatech however:

out of interest, how do you spread your TIM for the installation of the NB heatsink?

                            Thanks,

                              Hi k1llah3rtz,

I think we have the same clips. Its just the front ones i changed as that edge would block my memory.
Thermal Compound u mean ? I applied some Arctic MX3 into the holes.
