    How can you please provide settings for my bios on my EX58-UD4P to overclock to 4ghz on i7 920?

    Hey you! Been waiting me out eh? You should have went ahead and asked, others here would have been happy to help!

    I'd say update to F13 before we get started, unless you like F12. F13 is likely the same as F12 just with added Gulftown fixes and the mentioned memory improvements, ahh go ahead and update as those memory fixes may be good.

    Try this for 4Ghz, of course the QPI/Vtt and Vcore will be up to you to find as each CPU is different as you know so you may need more/less then others use.

      So what are the memory improvements? I have the 10H beta bios and it's ok for me but I wondering if I need to update. I'm stable at 3.8ghz @1.25V in bios. I can get to 4ghz with my C0 chip but I need 1.35v for that. And my temps are high with my non-lapped TRUE rev. B. Will the newer bios adjust temps too?

        You never know what they are, they might just be improvements that cause certains ticks that failed to boot before to work now, or they might help you OC, you won't know until you try.

        The days of inaccurate temps are pretty much over, the BIOS won't change anything there. You can try to re-seat the TRUE and see if it makes a difference, but it probably won't make a difference as 1.35V is what is causing your high temps, perfectly normal.

          Often just that, or they test and add compatibility or a BIOS setting, but most often they are adding new ram (or old) characteristics to be compatible with the BIOS

          Have you done the penny or washer mod with your TRUE? If not you may want to try that, google will lead the way

            I have the rev. B which doesn't use the "X" type of bracket on the heatsink. I've reseated a few times. I'm thinking of using MX-2 to see if there is a big difference in temps. I've been using artic silver 5 but the temps still seem pretty high even at 1.25V. I have the cosmos so the case isn't the best for air cooling but I feel I added enough fans to make decent airflow in it. My load temps get to about 72-72-72-68C when it's about 75F ambient in my apartment. These temps are at 3.8ghz. On my next vacation, I'm going to try to lap it and see how low they get or I might go watercooling with this case. It's almost cheaper to get a newer case but I do like the quietness of this case. It was quiet until I added the ultra kaze 2k rpm fans for intake and cooling on my TRUE. lol!

              The penny or washer method doesn't really do much, I tested this myself, but never got around to posting the data. Four mounts with and without washers, logging the air temp withy highly accurate Dallas digital sensors...the mounts with two 1mm (that#s a thick penny^^) washers under eacht spring turned out like 0.3C better on average.

              When I stop being lazy I'll do the same thing again for the newer Rev. B/Rev. C "H-Type" mounting bracket plus lap the TRUE... that's the plan at least ;)


              Do reseat the heatsink though, you won't believe how often simply reseating the heatsink leads to drastically lower temps. It does make sense as well, the contact between the CPU and the heatsink is the most important thing about cooling performance.

              I don't believe your temps are too high though, I get ~60C at ~1.18V & 3.6GHz HT on (makes a big difference!), and that's on a bench table at ~20C room temp. Megahalems is about 1.5C better than the TRUE.

                Hi sorry been busy studying and i updates my bios but got alot of bsod and they had 101 errors so if i remember correctly those were vcore problems so i increase my vcore to the the max u recommended but i still get the same errors.

                  why dont you trade in or sell your c0 chip for a d0 920? i think that would be the most cost effective cooling you could do,not all d0's run cooler=less voltages but 99% do, i use 1.18750v or (normal setting)@3.8ghz and with c1e and eist it only uses 1.152v on full load.temps 70/71c on hottest core dropping to 67c fan @1600/1700rpm other than that id go for a decent watercooled system

                    well i can do that but i think i will be bored to death waiting for it to come..... I dont have a job ,im only 15 and im planning to upgrade my processor this year so i rather not buy the d0 and keep my c0 for now and sell it when the time is right. I learn how bored i can be without a pc when i had to wait for a replacement for my hd 5870*almost 2 weeks of boredom had to use a T_T3870*.... so all i can do now is rely on Lsdmeasap to find me a solution.

                      Sorry, I overlooked you had the newer model.

                      Those temps aren't too bad, I see that on water at 4.2 sometimes so don't feel bad. I have a volt hungry C0 too.

                      Max I recommend is only a starting point or a "what may work" type of thing, if you get 101 errors it means you need more.

                      Is temps your only issue, I mean aside from the 101 BSOD? If so, go ahead and use more vcore until you get stable, then decide on the temps later once you know what you have to use.

                        Well i get so many bsod sometimes its 101 sometimes its 3b<never hear what that one meant. And the current settings below just make my computer freeze when entering desktop a min later

                            Yes, please enable LLC (Level 1)
