    Hello,

    I'm a newbee...

    GA-EX58-UD3R rev 1.0
    Bios F10
    i7-920
    3 x 2 Gb (Hynix HMT125U6BFR8C-H9 DDR3-1333)
Zalman CNPS10X Flex with 2 Scythe 110cfm with artic cooler paste
all I did is raise from 133 at 150 x 21 (3150.06) and everything else at auto....
temp iddle: 49 and full load: 83
is there something I could do to lower voltage and consequently lower temperature

I would like to achieve 3.2 to 3.5 and I don't know what settings I should use

    Re: Ga-EX-58-UD3R

Ok I raised it to 160 x 20 turbo on
    QPI x36
    memory 9-9-9-24
cpu voltage 1.12500 and QPI voltage: 1.180
    idle: 41 full load: 59
    180 x 20 turbo on
    idle: 41 full load: 63

what about cpu voltage shoud I go lower or higher, same with QPI
    what about memory

Is there a guide that I can read so I would know what is what and what's it for.....
      I'm trying to reach 3.5 to 3.8

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this

you have D0/C0 chip???? for 3.8ghz i use 1.18750 cpu v or(normal)cpu voltage setting in bios, and 1.30000 qpi voltage, system performance enhance to standard and 1.66 dram voltage keep all c1e and eist enabled if you have winxp/vista,if your using win7 disable them and go in win7 power saving and select balanced profile(it will reduce cpu when its idle but not under load saving idle temps and power)

          Re: Ga-EX-58-UD3R

          I followed your instructions....
decreased cpu voltage from 1.125 to 1.1875
increased qpi voltage from 1.180 to 1.300 (why the increase ?)
changed system preformance enhance from turbo to standard (any particular reason ?)
voltage my ram is set for a max of 1.5
as for chip it's in my signature....D0

Thank you nfor taking the time to explain this to me

are you stable?youll need to increase qpi v when you overclock same as cpu v,it can be more stable if set to standard performance enhance, you can set it to turbo if you wish but if it freezes or blue screens set it back to standard, what are your temps like idle/load? did u set to balanced power saving profile in windows?

stable with your settings.....and also stable with qpi at 1.180 and enhance mode to turbo....I did set balanced power saving profile in Win 7
              temperature at idle = 40c full load = 63c

the temps are right, youll need less qpi v than me with 1600mhz ram,if you want to clock higher than 3.8ghz tho youll need more cpu v,and then it wont throttle when idle,it only does it when cpu v is on normal or auto + you wont notice any benefit in clocking higher

What is the break-in period for the Artic Silver paste and how much temperature reduction can I expect after that period ? In the first 48 hours I've seen a 1c drop....at idle I'm between 38 and 39 ........

I also have this board and wonder if either one of you could post a comprehensive list of ALL BIOS settings for a successful ~3.6GHz (or higher) overclock?

One of the problems I'm having is that I'm using OCZ3G1600LV6GK memory kit, and this board doesn't correctly detect the RAM timings, so they need to be manually set which makes overclocking difficult.

for 3.6ghz set bclk 160 and set ram multiplier to give you 1600mhz,select expert ram timings and enter timings manually usually 8-8-8-24-1T,set dram voltage to 1.66,cpu voltage on normal, system performance enhance to standard and qpi v to 1.3000

I saw in one of your previous posts you recommended to the user to decrease QPI v since the RAM frequency was less than yours. Do you not recommend this any more? In your settings you also enable C1E and EIST but you're running Win7. I'm running Win7 64-bit exclusively; should I disable these and leave my power settings to "balanced"? Which of your settings can I import and which do I need to adjust?

yes set win7 balanced and disable c1e,keep eist enabled, try with 1.3v for qpi to start with, test and lower later maybe to 1.26,or you can clock to 3.8ghz cpu??? but with 1600mhz ram youll have to underclock your ram slightly, with 3.6 you will hit 1600mhz ram....whatever suits you best
