Memeory Problem Plz help ga-m61sme-s2

ok,

I have a ga-m61sme-s2 and i put 1.9v 1gb strips of ram in and they work. I bought a 2gb strip 1.8v ddr2 for the board so i could have 3gb of ram, computer kept rebooting when i put it in(video wouldnt come up just turned on and shut down). I want to put 4gb on this Motherboard and the board is supposed to support 1.8v 2 gb strips. Do i need both strips to make it work or am i doing something wrong?
