      ========================================

check if your mobo is actually this:
      GA-EX58-UD5 (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Driver

if so, install the Intel SATA RAID Driver for your operating system:

if it is XP 32 bit:

      <table width="100%" bgcolor="#c8c8c8" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr><td align="center" bgcolor="#f6f6f6">2009/08/11</td><td bgcolor="#ffffff">Intel SATA RAID Driver

      Asia Asia(China) America Europe Europe(Russia) : ftp / http</td><td bgcolor="#ffffff">8.9.0.1023</td><td align="right" bgcolor="#ffffff">13.10 MB</td></tr></tbody></table>

if it is not XP 32 bit , find, download, and install the one that matches your situation.

That's what solved my case, when I wanted AHCI for my drive after everything was OK as IDE, on a GA-EX58-UD3R (ver 1.6)

            Re: GA EX58 UD5 - AHCI problem

I already tried with that driver, and also the latest Intel one.....still no joy.

Whenever I plug the SSD into one of the blue ports, the pc will not boot. It gets to the AHCI driver and then stops and hangs when it cannot see the SSD.

I can use the white ports no problem (that is set to AHCI also), which works fine.

I can use the blue ports in IDE mode ok, just not with AHCI, which is strange. I can also plug a different drive into the blue ports and boot ok with AHCI, then hotplug the SSD in and it can see and use it ok.

Really strange problem this. When I installed W7 64bit I could not get the blue ports to see the SSD at all, so installed with it plugged into the white ports, hoping to switch it over once installed.

I'm lost as to what to try next?

                Re: GA EX58 UD5 - AHCI problem

The firmware on the SSD is the Crucial latest. Also, the SSD can be seen and accessed if hotplugged once W7 is running.

Its the Intel ports where I am having issues, not the white ports.

                    Re: GA EX58 UD5 - AHCI problem

Yes but the Jmicron was set to AHCI before I did the install.

The Blue (Intel) ports would not detect the SSD, so I was hoping to swap over to the blue once installed.

Once W7 loads I can hotswap and use the SSD, it just wont detect it with the AHCI driver before W7 loads.

                        Re: GA EX58 UD5 - AHCI problem

Already done all that, it will not work in AHCI on any of the blue ports, works fine on IDE, and will detect ok in AHCI mode once W7 has loaded from another HDD if I hotplug it.
