  • x48T-DQ6 Overclocking help

I've just installed my new Corsair h50 cpu cooler (with a noctua fan) and now I want some more bang for the buck from my old E8400.

I check Lsds guide on overclocking and made a Baseline bios Profile. It runs great at 333x9 =2999ghz standard and the temp after 5min of Orthos was 42C, Idle 30C.

    400x9, idle 35C, 5min Orthos 44C.

At 420x9 I get bluescreens. I tried upping the voltage on DDR3 +0,2 and vcore to 1,31259V but it still bluescreens in windows.

    System memory multiplier 2.00B
    Memory freq: 1333 840

    Using memory: http://corsair.com/products/xms3dhx/default.aspx

Got any tips on how to make it stable?

    Re: x48T-DQ6 Overclocking help

Have you tried the D strap multipliers?
You may need to increase FSB / MCH voltage, somewere between +0.05 to +0.15 FSB and +0.05 to +0.2 MCH. Start low and increase graduately.
If ram was ok at 1333 with default voltage it probably don't need that much over voltage if at all.
Please post full BIOS settings, use the template in this post.

EDIT: BTW temps are CPU temps or core temps?

        Re: x48T-DQ6 Overclocking help

I tried those thing and still the same bsod (STOP 0x124) which I only get when overclocking.

Also tried 8x430 and that worked fine, after 5min of orthos the temp peaked at 42C. 8x440 Bsoded thou.

Tried switching to 2.00D and upping the voltage a bit but it didn't do anything.

          Re: x48T-DQ6 Overclocking help

The settings you have posted are stable? What tests and for how long? Have you ran IBT on those settings?
          Are all timings set manually?
The 8x430 worked fine how, for how long?
What are CPU stepping and BIOS version?

Yeah they are stable, i ran orthos for like 5min. I also ran furmark a few times without any problems. I never ran ibt thou.
            All timings are set manual.
8x430 ran stable for a few hours.
CPU step 6 i think. BIOS version f6.

Sorry for the short answer, typing from my mobile.

              Re: x48T-DQ6 Overclocking help

CPU stepping should be C0/E0, the Revision field in CPU-Z CPU tab.

I'd leave all advanced timing auto, just Static tRead Value 12 for now.
The standard timings are quite relexed for current memory frequency.

Check Salty's settings for a similar board (DDR2 version). DDR Voltage/timings don't apply to your board but others may.

Can you post a screen capture of MemSet main(click >>) and SPD(click spd) windows?
              What is CPU normal voltage?

I tried that and that made my computer lock up directly after win 7 started, had to do a system restore.

I was asking if Static tRead Value was set manually 12 in BIOS when it showed Performance Level 1 in MemSet.
This could be a bug in MemSet.

I think I missunderstood you, so I put performance level to 12 in memset.
Not sure what it was set in BIOS I think it was tRead 14.

MemSet's Performance Level should be the same as Static tRead Value in BIOS, if it's not we can report it to it's creator so he can look into it and possibly fix it.

It seems like thats a bug then since my tRead is not set to 1 like memset says.

So what should be the next step?
