  • E8400 Safe Temperatures?

    Hello,

I recently had a E8400 cpu go bad, so it is giving me concerns about my new part.

The cpu idles at 40c (I'm currently clocked @ 3.6ghz) w/ an aftermarket Masscool heatsink/fan.

In the process of running Prime95, the temperatures seem to float around 50 and down. I have read about some pretty low temperatures w/ the E8400 is why I'm asking.

looks ok to me but i dont know that chip too well, best to try re-seating heatsink a few times to see if you improve temps

Remember that your ambient temps all factor in to your core temp. I have an E8500 and mine idles 35 and then goes all the way up to 55. I say youre ok.

          Re: E8400 Safe Temperatures?

I left Prime95 running while I was in class. The max temp my cpu went up to was 56C on both cores (Which I'm assuming is okay).

          Thanks for the posts guys.
