They increased the USB Power for USB 3.0 and to help deal with Eye-Finety (SP?)

Other X58A's? Be patient if you are already waiting to buy a board

I still think it's a bot of a far fetched feature though to have it be part of a key advertising gimik. The amount of people with three monitors, including one that can do Display Port is very slim indeed. I can't see EyeFinity taking off. Matrox have had Triple-Head-to -Go for years and it hasn't been used by gamers, just stock traders if that...

What does make a difference is the Smart Quickboot. That is a feature worth having. The rest of the "Smart 6" though, like 3x USB power, is for 99.9% of people useless. Smart 1 would have been fine and a couple of dollars of the board cost with the money they wouldn't have wasted on useless faff like storing passwords etc. Who the hell is going to use that, and loost the enctypted info if the board gives out?...

I'm not ranting, just a bit "full up" from all the empty candy all manufacturers are including on their boards. The big bug bear is you find the perfectly featured board for you, with none of the superfluous crap and then find out it only has a 8x and a 4x PCIe lanes. This forces you to go a model higher and pay for all sorts of other stuff you don't want.

Yes I agree with you mate. Its not something I really see benifiting me in the direct future but no doubt it will be a big part of the not too distant future. I remember when I was thinking camera phones were a waste of time and a gimmick. Well, its not so bad when you have a 5mp camera with you everywere you go is it. Quite handy. Anyway, im sure in time all these new features will be common place. Im just thinking, cause this will be the last build Ill be doing for maybe a couple of years. So I want to get it right. Not saying there wont be maybe a GPU upgrade down the track but yeah. I have been playing arma 2 a bit today and very pleased. I finally got past an objective and learnt a bunch of new stuff that I didnt even know you could do. Seems to be a few frames up on the last time I played it wit like 9.7 and a couple of patches ago but still get very painful sometimes. I guess it is very detailed. Seriously considering a HD5870 or something. IDK. with the board I really like the EX58-UD5. We'll see how long it takes till these other A boards come out, and really for like a nother 79 bucks I could get the A-UD7 so ahhh its all so hard. See how much the other A's are. May just wait till after chirstmas for A) see how much cash I have left after our trip, and B) hopefully stuff might be cheaper? lol or out at least. Anyway back to ArmA, Ive got a terrorist to find.

You bring up another interesting point that has crossed my mind. This "333" was not a big deal to me because as soon as I read that well the sata 3 was you know "aftermarket" I was turned off the idea. Its like the Jmicron SATA I have on this X48, its a bit slower then the good old intel setup which works well, and good point about the RAID and the fact that there probably would be no Sata 3 RAID. IDK but I have always been a strong believer in not buying the newest stuff just as It hits the shelves, and just letting some other poor sucker be the ginny pigs and test the new stuff. lol. A classic example would be when I bought a NVIDIA 8800GT as soon as they came out. Then ended up with a crapped out card cause of "bad memory" or some **** so the replacement card was a newer revision. The UD5 is looking more and more like the go. Just thinking about it I bet thats the reason why these remaining A boards arent out yet. Maybe they will have the ICH11R on it or something? I may wait and see what happens. Im just affraid basically that they will take away the I7 920. I think I hurd some talk about that???????????? IDK its only just got affordable.

I will let you know how it performs, hopefully soon! Considering there is no SATA3 drives out yet I doubt the chip to control it matters much anyway, but I do agree the J.Micron solutions are much slower on these boards then the Intel ones. Can't wait until Intel is ready for USB3/SATA3

I doubt ICH11R will be out in time for that, maybe this coming spring or summer. You will always be able to get 920, used is just as good, often better because you can ask the seller how good it is unlike a boxed one from the store which could suck.

Well that will be interesting to see how it does proform. The P55 Boards with 333 do have SATA 3 RAID 0 on them by the looks of it. But Yeah NEC USB 3.0 ?? Pft. I havent seen one USB 3.0 device. It will be awesome when its the norm because even with a "small" 8Gb USB 2.0 stick it just takes too long to move data. I should at least wait till the A's come out and see what the price will be. Because you dont have to use the 333 stuff you still have the intel SATA 2.0 and stuff. Hopefully they wont be too far away.
When is the American Spring/Summer? In 2 days summer starts in Australia. We are currnetly in spring.

Northern hemisphere and Southern hemisphere seasons should be approximate mirror oposites. This will mean NH Summer = SH Winter and visa versa.

It's Winter here too, 5c in the dav time. Can't really immagine Christmas being in the summer, sounds real strange.

Hey Guys. yeah 48 Pages. Thought Id revive it and catch up with everyone. Been real busy in life this year and havent had a lot of time. The Q9550 has been happily running @ 3.4ghz on stock everything for well months now and the only thing I need to really do is Get a better video card but the 2X HD4850 will do for now. Funds are being diverted to other area's in life and in the next year id say Ill have a baby on my hands so there wont be much money for the hobbies so to speak. Havent had anyother computer related problems except for CCC 10.6 not liking to be installed with CF enabled and BSODing afterwards. BBQ in the Snow. Sounds interesting. Got a new car a "Family" car. Not sure if i had said that anywere here before. Its still a good car. A toyota Kluger or Highlander to the American's.
