EX58-UD5 Checksum error

Hi. Every now and then I keep geeting a checksum error on boot, it then loads an older bios from the hard drive. The current bios is F7c and the one that loads is F6d from the hd. Any ideas why I get this error would be most helpful, and is there a way to over write the older bios on the hd with F7c. Thanks for your help.

Well you get that error due to incorrect settings and or your overclock fails and corrupts the main BIOS so the backup is kicked in.

You can correct your settings, which I do advise before you have to RMA the board, and it will stop doing that. If you post your full specs and the settings you are using I can help you along >>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

To copy your MAIN BIOS to your Backup BIOS press ALT + F12 at bootup and it will be copied over

Im getting this also and its very frustrating! my system is not very stable at all!

Ive got an i7 920 2.66ghz processor, an EX-58-UD5 motherboard and 6GB (3x2gb) Cosair DDR3 1600mhz RAM

Im constantly getting this error no matter what BIOS revision i flash using qflash.... I'm starting to think that its a faulty board! any idea's? Also I'm not doing any overclocking its all stock settings in the BIOS.

Did you load optimized bios defaults after you flashed your bios?
What are the specific stability problems? BSOD? Boot loop problems?
Have you changed any bios settings, including voltage settings?

Post your current bios settings using the bios template in post #3, ignore the settings in the template and enter your current settings, using AUTO where appropriate.

To better help you, please provide the following information:
1) List your system components in your signature.
--> User CP tab (upper left corner of web page)
--> select Edit Signature
--> enter your hardware components (brand, model, etc.)
--> include your bios version
--> preview
--> Save when complete
Be sure to include your bios version, motherboard version, power supply, cpu heatsink/fan setup and the model numbers of all components.

2) Link to your ram's full specifications.

3) Fill in the generic bios template with your bios settings.
--> Fill in Auto where appropriate.

4) Include a screenshot that displays:
Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
cpu-z CPU and Mainboard screens (several instances can be run at the same time)
EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab (only the Voltage tab is needed)
CoreTemp screen [for your cpu's VID (Voltage ID)]

I did load optimized defaults but it also does the same thing with failsafe defaults as well. The only BIOS settings i have changed are setting SATA to ACHI enabling USB mouse and Keyboard and setting the first display init to PCI-E x16.... other than that its stock with no overclocking or tweaking.

PC Specs are as follows:-

Rev 1.0 EX58-UD5 BIOS F9
Cosair DDR3 Triple Channel
Capacity 6GB (3 x 2GB) 1600MHz CAS Latency 9.0 9-9-9-24
ATI Radeon 4870 1GB

The symptoms are that quite often when i reset the machine or turn it on for the first time i get the CMOS check sum error and it asks me what profile to choose ie last known good, default etc etc. Im not running windows so its not BSODS or anything.. its mainly the CMOS check sum error.
