    Hello all. 1st post and new to overclocking. I built a new system for x-mas, had a few issues installing vista but that's worked out.
    Specs.
    Wolfdale e8500
    Gigabyte ep45-ud3p
    8 gigs G. Skill ddr2 1000 (pc2 8000) (4*2)
    Artic Cooler freezer 7 pro
    HIS 4870 1 gig gpu
    Pc Power and Cooling silencer 610
    in a Cooler Master HAF 932

    runs fine but there is an 8 degree differential in hw monitor between core0 and core1, core0 is running at 27c and core1 is at 35c. Any ideas, tips, tricks or suggestions? thank you

    Lots of info here:-

    Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring

    There is no temperature "Monitoring" as such on these Intel CPU's. All the software monitoring utilities do is make sense of a countdown to CPU throttling - ie where a thermal limit is reached (TjMax)

    This is why some cores vary so differently especially between idle and mid temperatures. A more linear output is seen at higher temperatures.

      thanx for the links, other than that how do the BIOS settings look? any suggestions on them?

        Channel A & B Static tRead should match and you can likely use 9

          thanx LSD, set both to 9 and adjusted the driving strength profile to 800? What does the DSP do? govern the data rate between the CPU and the DIMMs?

            The driving Strength profiles load certain settings for the settings below that as a Whole profile without the user needing to manually find and tweak working ones. As for how that works and what exactly it does I am not so sure nor can I get a decent reply from anyone
