  • UD3P - What is RGB exactly?

    Hi All -

I've been having an issue where when I play dvd's (doesnt' matter if it is Sata or IDE drive) it'll intermittently "slow down" the video (the audio is fine). I have a radeon 4850, and this seems to happen on the 8.11 and 8.12 drivers.

I was going to go into the bios and play with some settings, and thought maybe the Robust Graphics Booster may do something to help this... but I have no idea what it actually affects on the system.

    Any insight would be appreciated!!!

    I'm running the following

    vista x64
    UD3P F6 bios
    e8400
    Sapphire Radeon 4850
    4 gigs G.Skill DDR2-800

Try this to reduce that slowdown: go to Control Panel, System and Maintenance, Power Options and select High Performance.

For RGB Gygabyte mean Robust Graphics Adapter and NOT the usual Red, Green and Blue VGA signals...
More info on your Gygabyte manual.

As to what the settings actually do, ie FAST or Turbo doesn't seem to be described.

There is some basic info here:-
          R.G.B.

It could increase switching voltages, or even PCi-e frequency etc. I assume FAST is the Default setting and Turbo is the setting that optimises some form of speed increase.

            Thanks for the help!

Sorry Soldier, in hindsight I realize i committed the worst sin of forum posting (not searching first) but this computer build is proving extremely annoying for me and i just want to get it out of the way. won't happen again :)
