  • GA-EX58-UD5 memory problem

Hello im new at building PCs and ive come across a problem.

Ive install 6GB of Corsair Dominator RAM on my GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard and installed Vista 64 with no problems.
The BIOS and the System window say i have 6GB, but viewing the "System Information" it says

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
    Total Physical Memory 765 MB
    Available Physical Memory 3.35 GB

Does this information really mean that im using only 765MB of RAM?

    How can i fix this

That means your running Vista 32bit. My best info for you is to look on bit torrent and search for a image file for a 64bit version of vista and burn it and install that using the same serial key.

+ 1 for the above. 32bit is limited to 4GB, although I am not sure why it would say 765mb? What does CPU-z show you

And yes you can install 64bit vista with the 32bit key, you just have to download the installer for 64bit.

And do a clean install not a upgrade

        Time Zone Eastern Standard Time
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 12.0 GB
        Total Physical Memory 3.99 GB
        Available Physical Memory 7.47 GB
        Total Virtual Memory 24.1 GB
        Available Virtual Memory 18.8 GB
        Page File Space 12.3 GB
        Page File C:\pagefile.sys

I read some info sections on the vista site and it still isn't any clearer. I think it will only go to 4gb and anything other is classed as extended physical memory.

Total is the amount being used by the system for all the current running processes
