  • Does my info for CPU, Ram look right?

Why does cpu info under clock show 1997mhz with multiplier of 6? I have Q9550 cpu. Also, my ram is pc 8500 but shows pc6400 under ram info. Please take a look at screenshots. thx.

If you run an app that uses a bit of CPU power you will find clock MHz will jump up to what it should be ..the ram is running at 800 MHz not 1066 MHz so it shows up as PC2-6400 I think

that is speed step .... the comp slow down when you not using much ... just to save power that all ... that is normall ..
you can disable this EIS and C1E in bios .. that will make your cpu run full speed

Re: Does my info for CPU, Ram look right?

The CPU multi dropping to x6 is Speedstep. This is normal. It is an energy and heat saving thing. When you run something that loads up the CPU then it automatically changes the multi up to the normal max value. If you overclock you might need to disable this feature in BIOS, but for non-overclock it is good.

Your FSB is running at 333MHz and the RAM at 800MHz, so your mem multi is set to 2.4. If you overclock, say to 400MHz FSB, then you RAM will run at 2.4 times that, which is 960MHz. If you don't overclock, then you can change you mem multi in BIOS to 3.2, which will make you memory run at 1066MHz (333x3.2).

Yes, all 1066 ram is really 800 ram and must be set manually by the user to run at 1066, you will need to set your ram voltage and if you are using 333 FSB use 3.20B memory multiplier as said above to run 1066
