GA-EX58-UD5 and Vista x64 Installation

Setup:
GA-EX58-UD5
6GB (3x2GB) OCZ 1033 DDR3
Intel i7 920

Problem:
I'm trying to simply install Vista x64 onto a SATA drive. Vista can't see any of my SATA drives, so I try the "load driver" during installation and neither of the Intel or Gigabyte SATA installation drivers work. In both cases, they do not show up as compatible and if I select them manually it complains about them not being signed and allowed.

Thoughts:
* I can successfully install Vista x64 to an IDE drive with no problem.
* I've made sure that the HDD controller are set to IDE and native mode.

Any thoughts and/or recommendations would be appreciated. I would really prefer not to run the OS from an IDE drive. (Oh, and the SATA drives show up fine once Vista is installed ... )

Install vista onto the intel controller.
If your using the old raptor drives disable native support on the sata 0-3 ports.

Also do this

Make sure your ram does not exceed 1333mhz thendo the following.

in the bios sellect MIT menu.
CPU Features,
Disable CPU Enhanced halt C1e
Disable C3/C6/C7 State Support
Disable Cpu EIST function.

save then exit.

I think the bios has the profiles setup wrong.

What was causing you an issue? Vista or something else?

Install vista onto the intel controller.
If your using the old raptor drives disable native support on the sata 0-3 ports.

Turns out this is exactly what I did to solve the problem. (Where were you 12 hours earlier?!? )

During my original install, I had the SATA drive hooked up to the Gigabyte SATA controller ... as soon as I moved it over to the Intel controller everything worked.

I'm still trying to figure the relationship between the different channels in the bios and physical SATA/IDE connections. [Ex: Hooking my DVD/RW on the IDE chain shows up in the BIOS as one of the 10 available slots ... if there are 10 physical SATA connections, how is this possible? Does using the IDE chain prevent me from using one of the connections on the Gigabyte controller?)

At least Vista is running now!

What was causing you an issue? Vista or something else?

My board was unstable on bootup & shutdown. It would hang on Vista install. Other members suggested the memory, your settings fixed it.

Well the IDE takes over the SATA gigaraid port (GSATA2_0/1)
So you can run raid over IDE or SATA controller.

That's what I kind of figured. I don't remember seeing that fact in the documentation, but that is certainly what I saw.
