  • OC E8400+EP45-DS3+G.Skill 2GB PC-8500 PK

    Hi,

    I am a newbie trying to bump up his E8400 to 4GHZ Stable...

    Here is my config:

    Mobo: GA-EP45-DS3
    CPU: E8400 E0 revision
    Ram: G.Skill 2x 1GB PC-8500 PK 5-5-5-18 (i guess this ram is 1066Mhz?)
    GPU: ATI HD4870 GS
    PSU: Corsair VX550W


    So i read some guides but still having problems... wat r the good settings for a 24/7 use and to keep the pc for atlest 3 years without frying and at 4 GHz speed?

    oh and srry i have a Noctua NH-U12P as a cooler and Antec 900 case i heard this cooler gets that chip to 4GHz no prob.

      Try this, 4Ghz on Air may not last 3 years, but you will likely want a newer socketed board before then anyway >>>>

Please do check with CPU-z as to how much of a Vdrop you have from what you set in the BIOS to what you actually get at idle in windows.  It may be up to or more then .6 of a difference so you will need to adjust accordingly.  Some chips get 4Ghz on 1.28 actual some need up to 1.34 actual.  So set somewhere in the middle and see if you can boot it thru.  Set high so you for sure can then lower later until it fails then raise back up a notch or two.  I am using 1.38x set in BIOS for 1.32 actual in windows
