Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
stasio, sorry to bother you again before you contact to Gigabyte.
I've just tried to use MMTools to replace U1B's "x1x4Switch" module with the one from U1A. Now I'm able to use PCIEX1 with my USB3.0 card. Fast Boot issue is also solved with this modification. Maybe you could report to them about this.
The only big headache now is 4pin Fan. :)Last edited by shiecldk; 09-01-2013, 11:24 AM.

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
Trying to update My GA-X79-UP4 to F4b..
Hi after my F3x debacle, I wish to try F4b.
Hopefully its compatible with my Intel Smart ResponseTechnology setup, like F3u and prior.<o:p></o:p>
But there is no way I can install this version.
- Q-Flas in Bios F3u (and also in F3x) is outdated;
- @Bios version 2.28-B12.0723.1 is outdated (Run as Administrator, Iget the error right after selecting the F4b file);
- And Efiflash (version V0.36 date 08-07-2012) is outdated?? <o:p></o:p>
How to install this Bios?<o:p></o:p>Last edited by NLW; 09-01-2013, 11:18 AM.

I have flashed back to F3u mod + Gbe15 for now though.
F3 and F4b are both missing tRC in Advanced Timings section.
F3 and F4b would not apply my changes to Command Rate, selecting 2T persists through a reboot, but is not actually set.
F3 and F4b are missing VRM Phase Control.
F4b is no longer able to automatically control CPU fan by voltage. If voltage is explicitly set, it works, but a setting of Auto results in full speed.
This is all I found in my short time testing. For me missing tRC and inability to set CR are showstoppers, so as I said, I am back to F3u mod for now.Originally posted by NLW View PostTrying to update My GA-X79-UP4 to F4b..

Until Version F3x. I had to use @Bios. (With my fingers crossed ;).
And yesterday, I did make a USB bootable for Efiflash (<o:p></o:p>

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
NLW: Flashing tools are not the best choice. Simply because you got an OS and tons of other software to potentially interfere, not to mention potential system instability.
Just use the flasher in your BIOS setup....but I guess you might not even know that flasher exists?

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
You should ALWAYS use q-flash to update the bios except for when Gigabyte updates q-flash then you need to flash with @bios. IF and when you go to flash with @bios please make sure you download the latest version from here @BIOS (X79) v.2.23 B12.0217.1 for x79 users. Gigabyte site might list a out dated version.Main Rig

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
I have never used Q-flash, only @BIOS with no problems. I am a little confused what the problems are with the current @BIOS. During a phone conversation with a GB tech about bios flashing I was told to use @BIOS. I specifically mentioned the reported problems with it and was told as long as the bios file is downloaded in advance instead of using the auto download feature it is the recommended and superior method. Asked what method the tech uses on his personal machines the answer was @BIOS.
Why is GB recommending a program with so many negative reports when they themselves support and include an alternative? Especially when they have to end up dealing with the returned bricked MB's and or the resulting bad publicity?Current project:

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
My board is a GA-Z77X-D3H.
It seems Secure Boot isn't working in the latest beta versions. After I put it on "custom" and load the default keys, it will not boot or not boot right. It will play a long+short+short beep code on boot and the screen will stay off. Waiting for a bit, Windows sometimes still boots afterwards.
The problem I described, I've seen in F18g and F18e. I also tried the modded F18g from the mod BIOS thread.
Secure Boot works fine in F17i.

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
I ve used F8e for a couple of days now; I am sorry to report that I see no improvement in memory stability. Moreover, I noticed a small bug. I ve got two monitors connected to my pc - a 1080p TV and a 1360x768 monitor. Instead of the bios automatically defaulting to the 1360x760 resolution, it switches to 1080p. As a result, I can only see it through my tv and not through the monitor. I can change the resolution by clicking the resolution toggle, but that change doesn't stick; after a restart it's the same thing.

The BIOS screen itself, where you're asked to press [F2] or [DEL], was at 800 x 600. The Intel RSTe screen before it was normal sized though.
The BIOS didn't pick up Windows Boot Manager, but instead needed UEFI: Hard Drive selected to boot to Windows from my RAID.
Mouse support is back, but when moving the mouse, it auto highlights everything the cursor is over. When you try using the arrow keys, the highlight keeps going back to where the mouse cursor is at. The speed at which the cursor moves is also very slow.
The explanations of quite a few settings were worded too long and didn't fit in the box on the right. K OC had no explanation at all.
It would have been nice to be able to see it in action and test it out. I had to use FPT to flash it. Back to using F3u Mod w/GbE15 for now.Last edited by MacG32; 09-02-2013, 04:24 PM.

Mostly Rev.2.x has less problem.

Receiving some Z68 new BIOS's now.........
GA-Z68XP-UD4 - U1h
GA-Z68XP-UD3 - U1h
GA-Z68AP-D3 (Rev.2) - Ua7
GA-Z68AP-D3 - U1a
Thanks; been looking for this for the past year. Upgraded from Z68APD3.F8. I had to create a dos usb using edited autoexec.bat and FLASHSPI.EXE though. Got the FLASHSPI.EXE from GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68AP-D3 (rev. 2.0)
