Feel no huge difference between f33e and g. Stock Performance is only about 5930pt Cbr20. With My stable Pbo setting (+75mhz, all core -16, limits default) fire strike extreme score is nearly the same & Cbr20 score is a little bit higher than the stock cpu setting from f12.

This is probably because by default Windows enforces "Fast Startup" (AFAIK it's basically a form of low level hibernation), so the normal 'Shut Down' action doesn't perform a true power off. On the next bootup it will generally be too quick to let you get into the UEFI. Also, anytime you kill the power (or lose power) after a default shut down, you'll see Kernel Power errors in event viewer.


There's 2 ways to get around this:

1) Hold L-Shift when clicking 'Shut Down'

2) Open 'Power Options' -> Left Side "Choose what the power buttons do" -> "Change settings that are currently unavailable" -> uncheck 'Fast Startup'

You can also fully remove hibernation using the cmd "powercfg -h off" (without the "") in PowerShell/CMD/Terminal; this will also disable and remove the 'Fast Startup' option. Using 'on' instead of 'off' will revert back.

The basic point I was making is that people list all sorts of changes they see when they've updated BIOS or the firmware on their TV etc - but in reality the process of updating, rebooting, or removing power can cause changes and its not always the real changes within the firmware itself.

I always hibernate and have fast boot enabled (not ultrafast) and CSM disabled
My B550i has two "modes" and toggles between them (and then stays in that "mode") only when I completely unplug
In the current "mode" there is no video until the windows boot logo - in the other I see the single underscore character followed by the BIOS logo followed by the windows boot

Anyone know if there is a way to customise the fan curve of the PCH fan? It is the loudest thing in my PC by far and with a 5900x, the chipset goes over 60 degrees most of the time to turn the fan on.

I use a program called Argus Monitor to control the pch fan, and all the other fans for that matter, works great. http://www.argusmonitor.com

Really not sure why the fan curve is not customisable just for this fan...

It is adjustable in BIOS with Smart Fan, with the PCH fan. Only Silent, Balanced and Performance options are available. On silent, I've never had it turn on, despite having a quite low airflow case.

Do the B550 BIOS updates improve or fix anything related to the 3000 series CPU's or they're basically only for 5000 series?

If you experience USB problems you could give it a try. Otherwise: Never change a running system.

I have the X570 Aorus Elite WiFi with the f33F BIOS. When I enable "above 4g decoding" and "resize bar", it automatically changes CSM from enabled to disabled. But for some reason, with CSM disabled, my computer skips the BIOS screen and boots straight to Windows. The only way I can get back into the BIOS is to reflash the bios. I've tried disabling fastboot, using a troubleshoot restart direct to UEFI/BIOS, but nothing gets me back into the BIOS except flashing a new BIOS. Why does disabling CSM cause this?

SOLVED

Figured out the problem. I have a VR headset (Valve Index) and for some bizarre reason, when CSM is disabled (and only then) the BIOS screen is not being displayed on my computer monitor because the BIOS thinks the VR headset is my monitor. Windows knows that isn't the case, and so when Windows 10 boots it is displayed on my computer monitor. If I just unplug my VR headset from it's DisplayPort on the AMD Radeon 6800 XT gpu, then the BIOS screen is displayed on my computer monitor (as is Windows when it loads). So my practical solution is to just unplug the VR headset when I need to get into the BIOS. Hope this is helpful to anyone else who has been pulling their hair out over this issue.

I just installed F33i for X570 Master and have noticed that I can't see FCLK on HWINFO anymore and it's being reported as -1 on Ryzen Master.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Seems AMD has changed around some tables and stuff and software that communicate with smu needs a update to talk to 56.50

hi guys, have a problem with the display of the values EDC / PPT / TDC (including limits) in HWInfo. Yesterday I swapped my 3700X processor for a 5800X. My board is a Gigabyte Aorus Pro Rev. 1.0. Until the exchange, I was able to display the EDC / PPT / TDC values. Now I see these values in HWInfo (latest Beta 4420) no more. I did a BIOS update from 33e to 33g, then back to 33f. But HWInfo doesn't show anything about PPT / EDC and TDC ... Does anyone have any idea where the problem might be?

...are you using CTR 2.0 (Ryzen tuner) ?

I reverted back to F33c on my X570 Aorus Master due to having the same issues displaying certain readings that others above this reply have had. F33c is showing the readings correctly again so there's something incompatible with the latest BIOS.
