could you pm me the procedure you follow to do this things ? and a download location for the cbrom.exe you are using ? (maybe mine is broken somehow ?)

also, do you use a 32 bit windows ? maybe using windows xp in a virtual machine is what is causing my problems ?

there it says that the bios that can be downloaded there, has the 8.9.0.1023 raid bios, if you can put it into the last bios you moded for me, i will gladly test it xD

i'm using windows 7 x64 and the cmd window to mod the bios's using cbrom195
i just release the old rom then add the new one

i'd love to help with the 8.9.0.1023 rom, but unfortunately i don't have anything to extract modules from intel bios's

with cbrom215 at least (i would guess that an older version would be the same?)

works for extracting

pd: i think i understand now, i downloaded the file, and its a lot of files, none of which seem like the bios file :P

Just put the X58 extreme f8f bios on my computer and all seemed ok at first but within a half an hour lota of problems. Ran memtest 86+ and because I have 3 computers on a kvm switch went to another computer. Last time I checked it was on test 7 no errors. Went away again then the computer shut off by itself. Ok... so restarted and went into OS (win 7 RC x64) and after it booted I clicked the firefox icon the computer froze then shut off. Restarted and went into bios to change a few settings, froze in bios, then shut off. Tried numeros things still freezing and shutoff. No bsod's. Flashed back to F7 havnt had a problem since. Definatly a problem with that bios (at least for me). Interesting to see if any one else has had problems as well.

yeah, i know how to extract, replace etc, but cbrom, mmtool and other apps i have don't work with intel bio files :(
i don't think i've seen anyone modding intel ones

yeah, i was about to do a 2nd edit, this time saying i had googled arround a little, and there was no known tool for extracting from the .bio file in the package :(

edit: i found a newer (1.7.04) jmicron rom when searching (i didnt want to give up, but i have now) for the latest raid bios, or a way to extract it from the intel bios, and, using cbrom195 i was able to mod the bios correctly XD

edit2: it worked, but i had to revert to the one you made with 1.7.00 cause there were roms for 3 diferent controllers (mine being 2363, or so i think), with the "correct" one, in ahci mode, i had no DVDRW. With the other 2, i had, in one, no hdd, and in the other, nothing at all :P

yes f7b for the EX58-UD3R comes with the 1.20E AHCI rom

@nforce, any particular bios, or just F7 official?
and yes the extreme bios can be flashed to the ud5 if you use spiflash in dos

Hi Stasio, unfortunately it's not just a modded BIOS
The boards require a hardware modification as well (moving a small surface mounted resistor)

Yes, it is not just the BIOS, the BIOS only allows you to set more than 103 PCIE in the BIOS and boot. Please DO NOT post the mod image here, this mod is under NDA due to the fact of how intricate the mod itself is. Gigabyte does not want everyone killing their boards.

If anyone feels up to it, please visit XS and let Hicookie decide if he feels you are up to the task.

Or you may also Google "Foxconn BloodRAGE PCI-E and BClk Mod" and similar images will be in the first results.

I did this mod myself, and for a week or so I could not get it finished (It IS TINY AND HARD), so needless to say I sat without a board until Colin @ Gigabyte was kind enough to send me a used board from GOOC. Then a week or so later after some practice I finally figured out how to properly do it.

My results of some quick tests posted here, I think limited by non retail/production CPU's, but I have yet had enough time to play again.

F7 there was no change log.

F8 Series betas have one though, you have these changes noted:

From the looks of the change list the only change that could cause OC to break is D0 Stepping im OC....

Not sure if the new features added could cause something like OC to break on C0 stepping....

Also is there a way to flash XMP profiles on a non XMP OCZ dimm like the OCZ3P1600LV6GK :)
