Btw,
so far read on other forum, that flash to previous BIOS works only as bellow:

Load the optimized defaults, made a restart, press directly into q-flash with "END" and flashed it from there.

I have the same problem with my z170x gaming 7 updated to F20 unable to go back to F8o.

Downloaded FPT tool copied all files to bootable usb stick renamed bios file f8o to bios.bin, booted from usb stick.

Than i'm prompted to choise a keyboard, when I choise the programme does to automatically continue.

I'm able to acces the files via DIR, but view my limited knowledge of dos i do not what to do?

Would one of the persons who has been succesfull to use FPT tool kindly advise how I can get this tool to work.

With the kind help of Revod I managed to get my Usb Stick working and was able to Downgrade from F20
back to F8o (this is the bios version with the new layout)

My Windows 10 become very unable with F20, I did not correctly observe that this a bios for the new CPU.

SO if you are not upgrading to Kaby Lake STAY FAR AWAY of F20.

Report on bios upgrade to version F20 for the GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0): Initial boot after flash update via "@bios" was able to access the bios setup.
Subsequent system boot gave a blank dark screen and no bios access or system boot. With power off, shorted the Clear CMOS pins, and again was able to access bios setup.
Loaded "optimized default settings", rebooted and again accessed bios setup. This time, worked normally and system booted into Windows.
So: prior to flashing to one of these KabyLake bioses, my advice would be to first load "optimized default settings", reboot system, then perform the bios flash update.

I`ve registered here only to say Thank You. Thanks to all your help in previous posts I was able to downgrade my Z170X-Gaming 3 rev. 1.0 from F20 back to F6.
I had many pop-ups from APP Center informing that there are updates avaible. After some time I hade enough so I checked Gigabyte website and found that there is new bios for my mobo. Then ok. Update went smooth without any errors, reboot aaaaaand crap. screens black, noting showing. Ive pluged cables from my graphic card to mobo and screens started working. System doesn`t seen my graphic card. Nothing, null. Like there wasnt anything connected. Checked with gtx1070 then with 970 and at the end with 260. Nothing, like there was nothing connected to PCIe. I was struggling with it long time. Thanks, downgrade helped

I have a question if you can help me. I Update the bios of my motherboard GA Z170X Gaming G1 to the F20d, but had the problm with the memory. The memory in case are the Kingston HyperX Furry HX426C15FBK2/16 (2X 8GB 2666 mhz) the PC never boot more and stops on the Dbug Code 09, and i took those out and put the other ones i have Gskill 2400 mhz 2X 4Gb and boot normaly.
My question is why the Kingston HyperX Furry .

FTP Z170 Tool for DOS worked for me.

Have also special EfiFlash.mod to flash BIOS if you have error "Invalid BIOS image".

Efiflash 062-mod

Note:
Works for Z170,X99,Z97,Z87,X79 and Z77 series.
