GA EP45C-UD3R(F5f)/Q6600(GO)@400X9=3.6/8gig Patriot PC8500/Gigabyte 3D Aurora Tower/CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 650w PSU/Cooler Master Hyper Z600R CPU Heatsink/HIS 5770/1T Maxtor Sata300,500G WD Sata300
Just flashed my GA-P55-UD3R to F5 bios, and now everything seems OK, except that my CPU temp in BIOS reads -2C. Everest and Speedfan read the CPU temp @ -32c. Any body else have this issue, and any resolutions for it?
thats a weird one! i have ga-p55-ud3r and i5-750 and F5 and all is ok.
for temps i use real temp and hwmonitor from cpuid and they report fine.
about 40c +- and up/down as use/idle ie normal.
did you qflash after boot into the bios? or did you flash another way. also after flash MUST set default or speedy settings to rest all settings. I suspect you didnt and that would cure. that should rest all settings to default or speedy (optimal) settings and clear out any stray bits of fluff. :)

My thanks and gratitude go out to all those who spend so much time sharing the product of their learnings here. Have built many systems both Intel and AMD, but this is my first Gigabyte board and first failure. I was determined to find the problem on my own, but after 4 weeks of day and night reading, it's time to throw up my hands, surrender and ask for help! After reading over 2000 posts in the 271 pages todate, my first conclusion is that my EP45-UD3P v 1.6 is not popular with posters since there were less than a dozen noted.
Signature list is current. BIOS settings were initially set to defaults. New hd was formated to NTFS then XP Pro loaded using 6 disk setup installation. The system posted ok, DMI pool data screen processed, but would not get past first windows logo start screen where the 3 bars run left to right and you know its thinking about loading, just never does.
I finally decided the current FB BIOS must need upgrading so I attempted to Q-flash the most current FD Bios. I downloaded the file on my working computer then used windows to extract the p45ud3p2.fd file by just double clicking it, and then copied to a floppy. I set floppy in new system as first boot, powered up unit and went to Q-Flash window. There I selected "Update BIOS From Drive", then selected the "p45ud3p2.fd" file shown and hit enter. After about 5 minutes the progress dots completed and the following message appeared. "Invalid BIOS Image". I suspected there may be a problem in my file extraction method of using windows to extract the bios, so I downloaded WinRAR 3.71 and extracted files with WinRAR, copied to floppy and repeated the Q-Flash bios upgrade, but same results, "Invalid BIOS Image"! Any suggestions?
EDIT:
New development. I left the computer un-attended while in it's state of attempting to start windows, and returned in an hour and windows was operating. I repeated and in about an hour windows finally starts!
What's up with that?
EDIT:
I finally figured out why windows would not load and fixed that, but still havent been able to update bios!
EDIT:
Was able to flash bios using USB rather than floppy...go figure!

Reason: Got Flash Working

I did the flash from within BIOS. Yes, I loaded optimized defauls immediately following flash, saved and exited, then adjusted settings after subsequent reboot.
Real Temp shows the temps of the individual cores fine. The one that doesn't report properly is the one listed in Everest as "CPU" and in Speedfan as "Temp 3" (the one right above individual core temps.
It's not that I can't exactly get a temp reading from my cpu... I can get individual temps for the 4 cores fine. It's just that not reading this one temp properly leads me to believe there could be other problems with the BIOS.
Another glitch I've run into:
When I set CPU multi to 20 in BIOS, it always ends up at 21 when in Windows. If I set it to 19 in BIOS, it'll be 19 in Windows. 21 in BIOS gets me 21 in Windows as well. I'd like to hit that 20x multiplier for a nice, round RAM frequency. Again, I could go with 19 or 21 and never see a real world difference in performance, but I should be able to keep a 20x multi.
It happens to me too. Your CPU and board is dynamically overclocking. I'm not 100% certain on this because P55 and i5 are very new to me, but to fix it at a certain multi I think you need to set the vcore manually. This will disable dynamic overclocking and fix it at 20x.
Dynamic OCing can only be achieved when the vcore is set to 'Normal' or left on stock settings.
I thought F5 was a poor BIOS when I tried it. It didn't work well for me at all, I couldn't hit the 24x multi when dynamically OCing. I went back to F5b and everything is OK again.

can't you just disable turbo in the cpu options?
i7 950, Gigabyte EX58A-UD3R (2.0), 3x4GB G.Skill PC3-12800, HD 6970
F10 has proven to be quite stable on my ex58-extreme, although i have noticed some issues:
- system won't boot in win7 with HT OFF - it BSODs when loading win7 (with same OC and HT on ... no problems)
- multiplier won't go below 12x (that means 2400mhz in my OC configuration). With the other BIOSs it went as low as 400mhz
Good part is that the multi seems to be fixed under full load - it stays unmoved at 21x
