It could just be my system but a couple of issues that started immediately after updating to F40a is that the password enter screen no longer displays correctly and is all white instead of gray and text is not visible, issue is still present in this release for me as well as my RAM kits RGB is no longer controllable in any of gigabytes software or g.skills and just displays the default rainbow. It could be my fault for having both GCC and the old software and gskills at the same time but never had an issue before flashing, otherwise, everything else seems good.

I didn't understand if u have issue with bios F40a or F40b, but remember this: every gigabyte bios who have a letter after the version (in this case F40a /F40b) are beta bioses and it's "normal" to experience bugs and various issues. I suggest if u want to avoid any troubles to go back to F39 or whatever was stable for you.

Both F40a was where it started but F40b has the issue as well but may just be my config and software if nobody else has the issue. I would rather live with that and have the newer microcode, sorry if I wasn't clear I am aware they are beta just wanted to see if anybody else had issues with RGB and password input screen or if it was something with my config.

Gigabyte Finally released Bios's for all Z690's on the 28th F30e
there will also be a new bios early august say support (but im sure it will be late august for Z690 knowing Gigabyte)

Be warned when you disable Intel Default's

AC load line on 13900k used to be 0.6 its set to 0.4 now like they do on 14900k

so will cause instability on 95% of cpu's

Gigabyte really have no idea what they are doing and i have ripped support a new one about this
not that its a problem for me as i can just fix it but it will be for most customers

so the cpu can work out how much power is being used which for Z690/Z790 is 1.1 mOhm Gigabyte delib lie to the cpu to fudge the power use numbers they did this on Z390 also, Asus have been mirroring this over from CPU Vcore Loadline Calibration for quite some time in the correct manner)

August 23, 2024 – GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards, and hardware solutions, announced today the BIOS update that fixes a recently identified security vulnerability “Sinkclose” of AMD desktop processors.

This security flaw was reported to impact all AMD processors since 2006 and millions of devices globally. GIGABYTE remains working closely with AMD and demonstrates our commitment to swiftly addressing any issues that may affect our customers' experience. The latest AGESA BIOS which can fix the security vulnerability will be released to the website in succession starting by end of August.

User are encouraged to install the updated BIOS at their earliest convenience. The BIOS can be easily updated using GIGABYTE's ＠BIOS, Q-Flash, or Q-Flash Plus technology. Please refer to the following table for the AGESA BIOS version and applicable models.

It seems that Gigabyte has started to release these new BIOS updates. My B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 rev 1.0 has just received an update.

For my Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite Wifi the BIOS download is labelled as `Update AMD AGESA 1.2.0.Cc for fix Sinkclose Vulnerability`. But the release statements says that the 1.2.0.Cc is for 3000-series processors. I have a 5800X, do I need to install some other BIOS?

For sure it contains both codes, but I think they don't explained it so well... btw I see some people lamenting that secure boot don't work in these bios and are causing system to not boot. So I'll avoid to flash them for now.

i flashed F40b for a X570 board and i couldn't change system mode from setup to user so i could enable secure boot,put it in custom,disabled,enabled,reset keys tried everything,i went back to F40c and i could set secure boot easily no problem.

For a long time the steps of toggling standard to custom, custom back to standard accepting defaults, and enabling secure boot, has overcome the default of enabled not active (Setup mode displayed instead of User mode)

There is the reset keys option but over time there are often posts about bricked m/b after messing with keys settings

But I have seen posts recently suggesting this doesn't work any more with recent beta BIOS versions - suggesting there is now a BIOS keys issue

But BIOS with small letters are beta and for old designs like B550 and X570 that are working fine why risk it?

There is the theory that Windows can load microcode updates for these reported vulnerabilities as well as BIOS updates - even if theyre possible to happen

There is also still confusion with people thinking secure boot enabled is needed for W11 - but it is called for by some games

New update coming F40d is available for my X570 Aorus Elite: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileLi...ts005_f40d.zip They always seem to drop the newest one right before they update it as the update file is in the servers and dated to a few days ago. Likely others available as well just change URL to whatever the next release would be for your board. I haven't noticed any loss in performance maybe less frequent boosting on my X3D chip but not tested just my feeling that I notice it boosting less often. Secure boot has been fine for me updating on all the new versions still active and enabled with no intervention and I always flash the latest BIOS ASAP. I have probably flashed my BIOS chip like over 100 times since 2019 with all the beta releases that they have put out we almost used up the whole alphabet a few years ago. I still can't control the LEDs on my G.Skill RAM on this version might try flashing an older version just for a sanity check but don't really care, just prefer static red to rainbow.
