Good luck, you will get there! Just dont give up, it always takes some time to get used to how boards react to settings
Yes still tweaking but system runs stable at 4.02 Ghz now and cool and a amazing low Vcore :-) lol
Still tuning will post my settings later thanks again to get me on the right track really appreciated...
This one beast of processor :-)

Well I see you may need 2.2 or at least it is warrantied for your ram, but yeah 2.1 is cooler and is likely all that is needed

Use 402 or so, not 400 FSB exactly as it is right on the strap
Ok guys thanks really appreciated but with manual ram settings the system won't boot so after 3 tries back to the default speed settings...

However with Vcore 1.3 (to high I think) and all settings but ram on auto (960) in Vista see screenshots...

try dropping the vcore just a little bit (like 1.23 or 1.24V), if it boots, it should reduce the heat and electrical resistance within the CPU (which sounds like the problem, i think the hottest i ever saw my CPU when doing burn-ins at 3.85GHz was about 60-62 before it crashed). you'll wanna try and find the lowest core voltage you can boot and run stable with. btw, OCCT shows your vcore as no more than 1.2V because of the extra resistance caused by a hot CPU, which is refered to as CPU droop

if you're running your memory at its rated frequency, you can probably leave the memory a bit lower, just to reduce the heat generated. did you up the MCH a little bit?

Ahh nothing to be scared of! So you can get 3.9 fine almost but not 4Ghz right?

I see you have speedstep on that is likely why you have issues. When you PC is idle with that on, the CPU multiplier gets downclocked as well as the Voltage which was likely causing you issues. Should be off for sure when you overclock, and especially with that much of a overclock.

    Try this >>>

This for sure needs to be manually set for 2 reasons, auto may give to much or not enough, and without it set you could not be getting enough, or you could be frying the ram. If it is 1.9-2.1 (2.2 EVP) then set to 2.1 and then later you can see if 2.0 will work. 1.9 likely will not with 4GB To use 4-4-4-15 you will for sure have to set 2.1 or 2.2V

Re: GA-EP45DS3P and E8600 settings tips?

you'll need to put the vcore up to 1.3-1.45V (start at about 1.4 and then if you can boot you can lower it to reduce heat)... Push up the MCH voltage to between 1.2-1.4V and manually set the DRAM voltage to at least 1.9V (i believe thats the rated voltage, but it'll be on the sticker)... put the MCH strap at 333MHz for 400MHz FSB (should give you better stability). I'd probably put the timings as follows:
    Advanced Timing Control
    tRRD............................................:4 or 5
    tWTR.......................................... :8-10
    tWR.............................................:6
    tRFC............................................:b etween 50 and 60

    tRTP...........................................:Au to
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

also set the static tRead up to somewhere between 7 and 11.

That should give you a bit more stability. If you can get it stable with those settings, you might even be able to run that memory at higher frequency, so you an probably up the multiplier to 2.4 for 960MHz.

Do you get the BSOD at 400MHz when you start doing a burn test or something or is it just straight after you boot into Windows? Can you check your temps at 395 and post the average core and chipset temps?
