  • P35c-DS3R Problems

    Hello,

I'm on my 2nd P35C-DS3R (Rev 1.1, firmware F4g) - the first worked for abou a week (With a lot of "freezes") until it stopped booting - powered on, but just reset after the fan started. I returned it and got a replacement.

This one's been fine for a week, but has started freezing again - it locks up and only a reset will get it back.

Does this m/board has reliability issues? I've been using Gigabyte boards for almost 10 years and never had a single problem.

Have you flashed to the latest BIOS?

How long before it locks up each time?

Yes, I believe it's already running the latest bios.

When it freezes once, it freezes almost every time I reboot - before windows has finished loading fully, sometimes in the "login" screen, sometimes afterwards, and sometimes when I "open" a SATA hard drive. Eventually after a few reboots it's OK. This happens with ALL extra hardware removed. [I have two mirror arrays set up.]

I'm quite suspicious of this m/board, as this is the 2nd that's exhibited this "lockup", although the replacement didn't do it for a week - the original did it straight away. The first eventually stopped POSTing. I'm beginning to wonder if the same will happen to this one! It feels like a flimsy m/board, and the way it bends where the CPU is doesn't look too clever.

What CPU cooling are you using and are you able to check BIOS temps?

Does it lock up even in the BIOS?

Standard Intel cooler that came with the CPU. Temps are fine, have a display showing this. It's never locked up in BIOS - at least, this replacement hasn't - the one that stopped working did. I only really use the machine for word processing at the moment, so it's hardly under stress.

I'm beginning to think it's some sort of issue with the Intel RAID controller. I just found out tonight if I leave it "locked" for over 15 minutes, windows throws a delayed write error. This has happened with different hard drives, though, on different SATA sockets. I've also noticed that when there's hard drive activity, the USB mouse "skips". Odd.

I really am not confident about this m/board at all.

Could it be the memory? There are reports of this board not working well with ballistix DDR2-1066 well (One of the 3 star reviews in newegg for this board). I dont know about the other brands.

              Dear Harbottle

The F4G BIOS is still a bate one.
If you are worry that have some BIOS issues,
              you can try F3 edition.

              Please send me a mail:
              [email protected]

I will send you the F3 BIOS.

You really should checkout the post dates as 3 months ago that was the latest version.

You've obviously missed the point there.

This thread had been dead for 3 months before fausto412's post.
