  • Re: Welcome to GIGABYTE Technical Support!

Yes, I installed the driver from the cds provided with the hardware.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try to install again without any peripherals attached (webcam/tv, and some other stuff I have around) and see how it works.

If it were me I would change the keyboard, and remove all the usb devices before running setup.

I removed my webcam from USB and installed windows 7 without any problem. It's possible that was the thing that caused all this. Thanks for advice!

          Questions for Janus.

          Hi,
have asked Gigabyte tech questions regarding the vcore default on this board when an AMD X2 7850 BE is installed .
PC health status shows vcore as being 1.31v.
          CPU voltage control shows NORMAL.
          Normal CPU Vcore shows 1.325v
          Easytune6 shows voltage as 1.312v
Easytune6 tuner tab shows Vid as Power on 1.325v and target 1.325v
Someone in Gigabyte tech told me it is policy to add 10% to vcore for easy overclocking.
So just what is the correct vcore?
Nominal vcore for the cpu is 1.2 - 1.25v
If I try to lower vcore in cpu voltage control then I cannot get 1.25v.
Should it be set to 1.25v or what?
          Hope you can help.

It sounds to me like you need to Update CPU ID/Micro codes. What bios are you using? I would update to the latest bios. =F5A I believe.

Regardless of it being the bios it came with or F4 or F5A, nothing changes.

Gigibyte insist that the vcore is giving 10% on top of the so called default and that is that.

Install fails with BSOD on Vista x64 Ultimate or XP Professional.

I am trying to do the initial build of a machine with the following hardware:

                  GIGABYTE EP45-UD3P
                  Intel Q6600
G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK (tried with both sticks or just one stick)
                  NVIDIA 9800GTX+
                  HITACHI 1T SATA HD
SUPER WRITER OPTICAL DVD Burner (SATA)
                  BFG LS550 PSU

I am consistently getting a BSOD with the following error 0x0000000A . If i crank the DRAM Voltage to 2.08, then i get a 0x00000D1 error referencing PCIIDEX.SYS or atapi.sys. I have RMA'd one board for this problem so i am begging to suspect that is something other then the board.

PLEASE HELP I am so frustrated... :(

You will have to run the Process of elimination. Have that memory, and GPU tested . You may want to set your initial display on Peg and be sure the graphics card is in the pciex16 slot the top one Also that SATA DVD drive could cause it, or you may have that USB in the firewire, or the firewire in the USB Do not plug the USB bracket cable into the IEEE 1394a header.
                    • Prior to installing the IEEE 1394a bracket, be sure to turn off your computer and unplug
the power cord from the power outlet to prevent damage to the IEEE 1394a bracket.
                    • To connect an IEEE 1394a device, attach one end of the device cable to your computer
and then attach the other end of the cable to the IEEE 1394a device.
Do not plug the IEEE 1394 bracket (2x5-pin) cable into the USB header.

I am sorry Musicman53. I got confused. I thought your normal Vcore was 1.325 I suppose Gigabyte and AMD worked out an agreement on that vcore voltage. You may want to ask AMD if that voltage is accepted. They are the ones that need to warranty that cpu if it fails. Me I would just use it and see, but I got house insurance LOL.

                        • System hanging at start up

A few weeks ago, another system of mine died. I am wanting to copy files from one of the hard drives from that system to CDs or DVDs. The drive in question was the drive on which I had my OS ( XP Pro ) installed on the old machine. Today, I tried connecting the drive to another system to see if I could copy,or burn the files with this other system, I connected the old drive to the IDE cable, then connected the molex power up to it, closed the case, and turned the system on. It will not detect either hard drive , so I tried the auto detection in bios, and still nothing. It is showing NO hard drives. So I looked, and saw the old drive from the other system had a jumper setting it to master, I changed that to slave, and tried again. Same result. Then tried taking the jumper off completely, same result. So I gave up on trying to recover the files on the old hard drive, took it out of the machine, and tried to start it up, and now it will not even let me get into bios. I hit delete, and it says "Prepare To Enter Setup" but just hangs there. So, I tried a jumper to the "clear cmos" pins, and tried again, still hanging at the Prepeare to enter setup. Did I screw my board? I noticed when I COULD get into the bios after trying the other drive, it had something about USB being the boot device ( which I did NOT set, so I do not know how it was changed )

The Motherboard is a GA-K8NSC-939 with F6 bios. It was working fine until I installed the other hard drive. I am perplexed !! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

                          Steve

Do you have any media in your other drives? As in cd-rom, dvd, or floppy drive? Do you have any USB drives connected? Do you have your windows xp cd? Did you check to be sure the hard drive is still connected? as in loose wires ect.? You may want to try it out of the case, off the tray with nothing connected but the CPU, the one stick of ram, and your GFX Card. No CD/DVD drives, no hard drives, nothing else and see if it will start, this is to eliminate shorts as a issue. While you have it out you may want to reseat the CPU as well.

It won't even get to the point of letting me open the CD drives,no USB drives are connected either, and I did double check everything to make sure the hard drive was connected. The system does power up, but just hangs at the initial screen.
