    Hello all

I have a new gigabyte Z170X gaming 7 (rev 1.0) and a 6700 non k that i whant to overclock, i have a water cooling kit on order.
I have Win 10 Pro 64 bits in french
I have not overclocked the cpu yet
I tried with regular 2133 ram and it's ok, but a gskill overclockable f4-3000c15d-16gtz doesn't work, it keeps rebooting

i read a lot and got a bit mixt up.

I think i make a booboo updating to F20D even if I have a Skylark (it must also have updated the CPU code to non overcklable version ? )

the board bios is updated to f20d, and it works fine with my used hyunday 2133 cas 15 ram, but not with my new gskill f4-3000c15d-16gtz 2*8 gig 3000 cas 15, that's why i updated to the newest bios i could fine. But it keeps rebooting. I returned it to newegg.ca and there are sending me a new kit.

I WILL NOT MIXT MY RAM, I'LL KEEP 2 OR 4 GSKILL DIMM OF THE SAME MODEL.

I've read some more and downloaded UBU 1.65 and added the f20d BIOS file, but I don't understand how to use it. Do I just update (or downgrade ) the cpu code to 74 (using option 7) so that a unlock bios (like ver F7A) will work ? DO I modify something else ?

So please what should I do now ?
    · Use UBU (to install version 74) ?
    · Usde UBU to modify something else ?
    · Downgrade to BIOS F7A (with FTP DOS ?) once I have cpu code 74 ?
    · Will that BIOS work with overclocked ram ?
    · der8auer says to stay below 2800Mhz for the Ram in his GIGABYTE Z170 Non-K Overclocking Guide
    • SO SHOULD I KEEP THE F4-3000C15D-16GTZ OR PURCHASE A 2800 VERSION OR STICK TO 2133 ???
    • But that date from january second, but no newer BIOS then F7A will overclock non K cpu on Gigabyte z170X gaming 7 ?

    Merci d’avance

It might just be the CPU and motherboard combination that is limiting the memory support under the BIOS.

You might not need to exchange to 2800MHz. Please reset the BIOS settings to optimal defaults, then use the following manual settings (No XMP).

    DRAM Frequency = 2800MHz or 2666MHz
    DRAM Voltage = 1.35V
    CL Timing = 15-15-15-35
    Command Rate = 2

Please try the settings above, and let us know if 2800MHz and/or 2666MHz will also reboot. (before changing anything using UBU or reflashing BIOS)

    Thanks.
