  • Using two different ram kits together

Hey, so I have Gskill Ripjawsx 2x4 1600 mhz CL9 1.5v kit which has the product number of F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL. The problem is 8 gb is not enough, especially for audio works, after few vst's my ram just can't handle it. Anyway I was thinking of adding some sticks, but I have a huge cpu cooler with 2x12cm fans, and heatsink of ripjawsx blocks me from adding it under the cpu cooler's fan. After reading this thread http://forums.tweaktown.com/g-skill/...ripjaws-x.html I started to think about Ares series which has a low profile. So if I add F3-1600C9D-8GAB to my F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL will there be any problems? They both have 1600mhz speed with CL9 timing and 1.5v voltage. It seems like they are pretty much the same ram except the heatsink.

it *might* be necessary to put one kit into channel A (A1 + A2) and the other kit into channel B (B1 + B2) to make them work together.
