  • Asus Utility won't start until wireless adapter is connected - and it is.

Just bought an Asus USB AC56 adapter, and run the setup/installation disc. The drivers are in, the adapter has a nice glowing blue light on it, the computer recognises "802.11n Nic" (although I'd be happier if it recognised 802.11ac NIC), but the utility won't start.

"Please connect the ASUS Wireless Adapter to your computer before running the utility."

I have tried multiple USB ports (I don't have USB 3.0 but I am led to believe it should be backwards compatible). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

The device IS identified, IS connected and IS reported to be working properly.

So why won't the utility start?
