  • PSU Connectors on ASRock H470M Pro4 MOBO

    Hello,

My motherboard has two ATX 12V Power Connectors in the upper left corner of the board. According to the motherboard manual, one is an 8-pin ATX12V1 connector, and the other is a 4-pin ATX12v2 connector.

My current PSU is a Corsair CX-430, and does not have both of those cables. It has a single 8-pin plug labelled for the CPU, and can be separated into two 4-pin plugs.

Here's my question. Do both of these connectors need to be connected in order for the motherboard to work? If not, what is the correct combination? Can I connect the 8-pin plug and leave the 4-pin connector unplugged? Or, should I separate the 8-pin plug and plug one 4-pin plug into half of the 8-pin connector and the other 4-pin plug into the 4-pin connector?

    Thank you

    -Robert

Answering my own question here.   You can use EITHER the 8-pin connector or the 4-pin connector.   The 8-pin connector just provides more power to the Motherboard/CPU.
