  • Fatal1ty x99 Gaming only boots with raid enabled

I initially started my machine with Samsung SSD connected to one of the Raid SATA connectors. I moved the SSD to one of the SSata connectors shared with M.2, but it won't boot. The drive is recognized but doesn't load Boot Manager. I tried another SSata connector but no joy! I move my drive back to one of the Raid supported connectors SATA and it boots! What am I missing?

    Dear sir,
This is Michael from ASRock Technical support Team.

RAID function is supported on [ SATA3_0~SATA3_5] ports only.
Therefore, SSATA port would not be able to use with RAID HDD.
Kindly refer the specification as below to check.

    Thank you!

    Have a great day,

Re: Fatal1ty x99 Gaming only boots with raid enabled

I am not using a raid array. I have a single SSD that I initially connected to a raid SATA connector. The system will only boot if "enable raid" is selected in the UEFI. I tried moving the SSD to a regular connector SSATA, but it doesn't see an operating system to boot. I plan to purchase an NVME SSD to do a fresh install of windows, but I am concerned that there is a problem with the motherboard. Why won't my SATA SSD boot when connected to a standard SATA connector.

Thanks in advance for your help.
