  • ASROCK Z97 Extreme 4 will not sleep.

OK been having the issue for some time now. Screen saver will kick, in but monitor remains in operation.
Previously, if it did go to sleep it may take 1-5 minutes to wake up. Not good if Skype is calling ... but monitor will not work.

Over the last few months I have updated the BIOS to latest (P2.30), exchanged the GPU and yesterday the monitor, still PC will not sleep.

BIOS is set to wake on USB, and LAN (to permit overnight backup) - I can try turning the later off.

With latest setup, if I invoke sleep via the USB KB it works and will wake up within 5-20 secs of KB activity.

This PC is normally never turned off, so I would like it to sleep and wake up via KB or mouse. (Logitech)

OS is W7 Pro, my other similar spec pc's (MB) with W10 also have problems to sleep, and or stay shutdown, but they get turned off manually more often.

    For now:
    - Good night is off.
    - Deep Sleep is off
    - Restore AC is off, with a UPS.
    - Rapid start is off.
    - Smart connect is now off (just done based on another thread)
    - RTC Alarm power off
    - Ring in power off

I will check if any attempt to sleep is made today.

OK I have been trying to do this on 2 almost identical systems one now sleeps and stays asleep the other sleeps automatically or when instructed and then a few minutes later comes back awake.
The one that sleeps uses W7 and the one that wakes is W10.

      Your suggestions:

      1. No difference, its not OC or volted in any way.
      2. Not using the on-board VGA
3 and 4. If I need to get this particular PC out and do this, it will be to replace the MB.

      Any different suggestions?

Suggesting to reset the the BIOS has some basis of validity. The CPU pin suggestion not.

You clearly didn't read the previous about access to the PC and if this is the best you can suggest as a repeated wake up from requested sleep, I will not waste my time or yours further.
