  • Choppy behavior on cold boot, fine after warm reboot

    Hi,

My newly built computer is misbehaving. On a cold boot the video, sound and general responsiveness are choppy. However, after an immediate reboot it works fine. I don't wish to be in the situation where I always have to boot the computer twice so I'm seeking guidance on the root cause and how to fix it permanently.

    First... The specs:
    1. ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 AM3+ AMD RX881/760G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard - BIOS at 1.60
    2. GIGABYTE GV-N75TOC-2GI G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card
    3. Rosewill R519-BK Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ 500W Power Supply
    4. AMD FX-4300 Vishera Quad-Core 3.8GHz (4.0GHz) Socket AM3+ 95W Desktop Processor FD4300WMHKBOX
    5. G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
    6. ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-128GM-C 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    Monitors
    1. NS-40D510NA15 (1980x1080) refresh=60Hz
    2. DELL 2007WFP (1680x1050) refresh=60Hz
    3. Dell E156FP (1024x768) refresh=60Hz

The things I've tried but haven't worked:
    • Updated ALL drivers, Nvidia, Windows, ASRock Cd
    • Backed out Nvidia driver
    • Installed USB Wireless N card
    • Turned off Microsoft Bridged WLAN service
    • Set VSync for Nvidia
    • Disabled unneeded Windows settings such as indexing, pre-fetch, etc
    • Disabled antivirus
    • Turned on antivirus
    • Rain dance in living room
    • Rabbits foot

I'm hoping someone here can help.

    Thank you!
Working...
