  • Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 and instant boot.

Just got this board and I really like it. I watched a few videos of how instant boot is supposed to work but for me it seems it's not working.

In control panel and power options it shows Asrock instant boot as the power plan.

Is there a setting in bios that I might have set to enable?

Or is there a problem with version 1.29 and Win 7 64 Ultimate?

Here are my system specs if this will help.

    Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 bios 1.60
Processor: Intel 3770K @ 3.5 GHz no OC yet.

Hard Drive: 2x OCZ Vertex 4 128GB in Raid 0
Hard Drive: 1 1TB Velociraptor storage
Video Card: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 SC
    Monitor: ASUS VG236 3D 1920x1080 @ 120Hz
Sound Card: Speakers (Creative SB X-Fi)
    Speakers/Headphones: G51 / Logitech G930 Gaming Headphones

Yes there is a UEFI/BIOS option that needs to be enabled for the Intel Rapid Start feature to function, the default setting is disabled for this feature.

But OMGawd man, why do you need this if you have two OCZ V4's in RAID 0 (as I do)? All it does is given you a zero power (hopefully) wake from Hybrid Sleep. I'm sure this is nice for laptops with HDDs, but my ASR Z77 EX 4 wakes from Sleep in less than five seconds, and is the fastest booting PC I've ever used, and the POST is also the quickest I've seen. Part of that is the RAID 0 V4 volume, but the board and UEFI have a lot to do with that.

But what the heck, have fun with it, tell us what you think about it.

I'll bet mine is still set default on the Intel rapid start because mine boots fast but not as I expected.
I'll have to check my bios

I was just wondering about the instant boot because I never saw it function on this pc, only in them videos. I was impressed. So thats why I wanted to see if I could get it to work.
