  • Flasing Bios without an OS

I just received my Extreme4 Gen3 /2500K and have it set up on my kitchen table. All I have installed is 2 sticks of ram, a keyboard(ps2) and a mouse. It booted up to the UEFI Setup Utility so I assumed it's ok to update the bios? Can I flash without Win7 installed? I have downloaded the new bios(1.20) to a flash drive, can I just put the drive in and flash it? I would like to get this done before I transfer this board to my existing setup. (The only thing I am changing is the board and proc.Everything else is remaining GPU, PWR ,RAM, CASE,HDD etc).Would this be the correct way to proceed? This is my first attempt at transferring /swapping motherboards any advice would definitely be appreciated.....

    Dear av8tor,

Yes, you can flash BIOS without Windows.
Please kindly update BIOS via Instant Flash or DOS, you could refer to below link and click "How to Update" to flash BIOS via DOS or Instant Flash.

Re: Flasing Bios without an OS

Thanks Emily...... is there any think else I should "flash" besides the bios before I install the board to my "old" system.I will be using System Preparation Tool from Windows and it will wipe the drivers out from the old setup(using the same hard drive)will the drivers from the disc get me going? Do you have any other suggestions to makes this transition go smoother?
